Gotta change your username mate, though Metro-Mad-Craig does sound a bit weird after all this time.

I still get freaked out when I see a metro rio on the road! but thats just a metro thing.....

Like the bits your buying for it though, but lets face it, its about time you got a car on the road! :D

Thanks mate! :P I'm sure I'll get a Mini eventually but right now, and I don't care what anybody says, I'm Metrolovin.. awesome car.

I almost bought a Rio... was a minter and sold for £550!!

And thanks :P Just tidying/sprucing up mostly at the moment, and don't have many other plans aside from manual conversion once I am on the road.

I also have a few plans for Le Mans next year... Flying Lizards mostly, being the first time I'll have gone to Le Mans in my own car I need to mark the occasion with something pretty special, and well, the cars red, the back of the flying lizard is red... You get my drift I'm sure. It'll look a bit rediculous on a Metro, but it'll be fun, and I've been talking to sarah of Flying Lizards on Facebook a lot so perhaps a photo next to the GT3 RSR on the Thursday might be in order :) Will you be there next year?

I'm hoping to get a few involved but perhaps we could arrange something to convoy down together too. It'll most probably be my first time driving outside of the UK though...

I really want a purple Metro quite a lot now... If I could find a nice MOT'd and Taxed one that was manual and a 3 door that'd be perfect because I could park mine on my drive behind the caravan and put a VVC in it and drive the purple one until I can afford to insure a VVC'd Metro in a few years... It'd give me time to do things properly too.

Spoiler is on the most part fitted now. Need to drill the left hand hole and then get some silicone sealer adhesive to make the bits that aren't screwed down stick properly. Awaiting the spoiler caps from the guy I bought it from through the post (he forgot them)

Pics to come.

So with the spoiler ready to go on and sitting in the car redundant, the sun made a short appearence this morning and that was enough for me to decide to fit it today.

First step was to give it a quick clean and looking nice, done. :P

With it mocked on the car I drilled the 4 holes at the top that hold the spoiler in with self tappers.
With those holes drilled I masked up the bottom of the window with tape and then fitted the spoiler. Underneath, there is 2 screws which locate the spoiler to the bottom of the window. In the factory on the GTi's and GTa's they would drill the hole on the outerside, and then a bigger hole on the inside of the boot with a securing nut on the other side to hold it tight. I opted not to do this and to do drill a 3mm hole either side, and with a needle file just file enough for the spoiler to need to be 'pushed' into position with some force on the bolts. The hole would need to be drilled very very close to the window on the inside, and I assume in the factory it'd obviously be done before the window was fitted, before paint had even been applied in fact. I didnt trust myself with a drill 4mm from the window.

With all of the holes made, I gave the car a quick wash down with a watering can because I dont want to be re-arranging bits of metal all over my clearcoat next time I wash it.
