I got of one of these, it was free inside the Autosport mag.......back in '99 :D

Glad you got the metro working again, if its running you about and getting you from a to b and isn't too much trouble then stick with it for now, plenty of time to get a mini

I think the Beardie probably is quicker mate!

And yeah they were free! I have them for 3 years running now!! :) 99p a pop. :)

Gonna stick with her for a loooooong time. Had a friend from Metropower over yesterday. We just chatted for hours and had a decent laugh with a few lovely Metros :) It's like the Mini scene used to be, I love it.

:) Definitely 16v once I pass... maybe see how much power will go through the CVT box before it go's bang... haha!

Got my family guy plates on the wall and got these made up too. It's weird how small changes can completely change a car. :)

attacked my cam cover by hand too. It's more rewarding :D Soon got tediously bored and got a blister on my thumb and called it a day though. Will finish it after tomorrows GP. :)

Gonna be an 8v for a while longer yet so figured I might as well make it look pretty. :) Looks a lot better than all black

Cheers guys. :)

Next couple of small mods... going to change the central locking motors for some Maplin ones I've bought. Standard Rover ones were crap when new and are crap 14 years later. Prone to failing too... when you push the button they just whine and take ages to open. Not a big problem to be honest, but I'd rather push the button and get an instant 'pop'.

Also, got a rev counter wired in but I think I'm going to find some Metro gti clocks with the rev counter built in. I've got UV bulbs and some florescent paint for the dials if I do decide to do it. :)

Bulbs are 286 5mm wedge at 42p a pop

Gonna get the jet wash out this weekend and then start the waxoyl/winter rust proofing procedure... it's gonna be a long dirty one i feel.

An invaluable practice though.

Lol, I don't envy you doing that job, you'll get filthy, soaked and be freezing, which is why I've been pitting off doing my rover, lol. Personally I'd get it clean, the spray it with some black stone chip, then give it a very light coat of waxoyl.

Yeah true that. Not looking forward to it, just gonna tackle the most rust prone areas and everything else will get one coat. The arches are CAPED in mud.

Yeah mate its all worth it in the end.

Had a dragging day at work, and ended up going to Halfrauds and spending 60 quid on stuff that really isnt going to improve my life that much. But I got some Stonechip and underseal :). Also some paint.

Needs another coat of lacquer and then flatting and polishing and then it should be a spot on finish hopefully. Only night pic, I got home from work at 6 and it was already dark :(
