Seems you and I are heading the same way with engine builds except you are further along than me, nearly got the cash together for the new short block and currently cleaning up etc the head

udo i have been watching your project aswell, its always good to see what someone else is doing, im sort of stopping on the engine once the head is preped.

Yeah thats one of my concerns space to fit a filter all in a standard roundnose, would like not to touch the bodywork but have a feeling it will need "adjusting".
Have you decided on the engine spec yet?
I think i've about sorted mine but was just wondering what your thoughts re crank rods pistons gearbox etc
cheers

spec wise i have some 73.5 omega pistons, the head will be fully worked with race cams and k1200 throttle bodies, and im hoping to be able to afford some SC rods and crank will be fully worked too.
there isnt anything to take pictures of atm unless you want to see my shed base that is now finished?

Spec wise I'm thinking very similar omega pistons, worked head but sticking with the RS cams and TB's due to funds.
Also going for worked rods and crank. I've ruled out the SC rods!
Just need to make a decision on what to bore out too somewhere between 1293 and 1380
Anyway I'll stop filling up your thread

i only got an LT head so that rules out the standard cams! and i didnt get any throttle bodies, the k1200s are bigger diameter and cheaper.
id go 1380, i think read the bore line up better when the block is offset bored, and the K has a 73mm bore!

If mine are RS cams (must check them out properly) i might be up for a swap if your interested. Of course you may just want to go the whole hog and get the mental SC cams.... in which case i'll stick with mine to avoid reshimming the tappets.

I know I will be limiting power but I was thinking 1293 as it leaves a couple of bores in the, becoming scarce, block but I agree 1380 offset bore lines everything up better.

go 1380 udo you know you want to its gonna cost a fortune in pistons everytime you re bore it so might as well spend out once get some decent pistons and just re ring them everytime you have to aquire a new block start stock piling them now if you worried they'l dissapear lol
Got a couple already

Your probably right, its just my mate had a 1430 and I know how regular his HG went!

Only replaced it this time round as I was changing the rings and cleaning up the valves. Almost 3 years running done on the original HG.
