Also, Andy. If the bores on the K engines are 73mm, why not make your engine a 1360? You can get 73mm pistons now, and it'll still leave one more bore before the block is scrap

To be honest the earlier suggestion was the best. Bearing in mind that ideally you want to be running forged pistons here @ £400 a set you don't want to be replacing them every five minutes.
That and the fact that in reality you won't be reboring it every month. I had my bores deglazed for this rebuild but that was it, when I split it the bores looked as fresh as the day it was built, some 10k miles and 3 years earlier. You're not going to be doing 100k miles on one of these engines, you're worrying about nothing IMO.

they run a copper gasket with a sealing ring in the kit, its re-usable supposedly and it would want to be for the price.
there is somewhere local to me that makes head gaskets so i may look into this.
its 1380 all the way for me, i have already bought the pistons.
Im not really that bothered if i ever had to change the block, there are still loads of 1275's in the scrappies near me! its a hell of a lot cheaper to get another block and m/c it than it is to get another set of pistons!
i have my bulkhead!!! cheers jason!
i need to get my coilover mounts then i can finish the front end! and nearly the shell. finally.

I'm going to do a seat position very close to yours on my mk1 and am scratching my head on a steering column solution. I'll probably need some UJs and some way to extend the column....what exactly are you doing with yours?
Thanks,
Aric
i also need to buy a UJ for my steering column as there is no way i will ever get it at a useable angle without, there well expensive though about!
that little lot is nearly £500 so it easy to see where all my money goes!
