What HG you using Dan?

Also, Andy. If the bores on the K engines are 73mm, why not make your engine a 1360? You can get 73mm pistons now, and it'll still leave one more bore before the block is scrap :xxx:

Cometic - although thinking about it, whether you can use one of these with the bmw head I don't know, do they use a custom gasket?

To be honest the earlier suggestion was the best. Bearing in mind that ideally you want to be running forged pistons here @ £400 a set you don't want to be replacing them every five minutes.

That and the fact that in reality you won't be reboring it every month. I had my bores deglazed for this rebuild but that was it, when I split it the bores looked as fresh as the day it was built, some 10k miles and 3 years earlier. You're not going to be doing 100k miles on one of these engines, you're worrying about nothing IMO.

cometic gasket :xxx:

they run a copper gasket with a sealing ring in the kit, its re-usable supposedly and it would want to be for the price.

there is somewhere local to me that makes head gaskets so i may look into this.

its 1380 all the way for me, i have already bought the pistons.

Im not really that bothered if i ever had to change the block, there are still loads of 1275's in the scrappies near me! its a hell of a lot cheaper to get another block and m/c it than it is to get another set of pistons!

i have my bulkhead!!! cheers jason!

i need to get my coilover mounts then i can finish the front end! and nearly the shell. finally.

Hi Andy,

I'm going to do a seat position very close to yours on my mk1 and am scratching my head on a steering column solution. I'll probably need some UJs and some way to extend the column....what exactly are you doing with yours?

Thanks,

Aric

i also need to buy a UJ for my steering column as there is no way i will ever get it at a useable angle without, there well expensive though about!

that little lot is nearly £500 so it easy to see where all my money goes!

Got it thanks - the piccie yo usent is quite similar to what's on my Z-Cars Monte...good to see something like it adapted to a std mini rack though....by the way, I'm using a Curley Evo Asad dash on my Monte, you can check my thread on it's build for details if you're interested.

Thanks for the note.

Aric
