Hi mate, really nice build. What is the sound deading you used?

Cheers buddy - silentcoat! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item519888eeb1

Is that good stuff? was the 'bulk' pack enough to do the whole car?

Cheers

Well, the bulk pack did an area on my bulkhead, the boot, the whole floor, the rear bins, the rear seat, the rear bulkhead... And then I'm going to get a door pack for me doors, and rear quarters!

Cracking work Jamie! does machine mart sell one those jcb's? I cant find it in there catalogue?

Bulkhead box looks good so far, you've cut enough height out so you'll be fine, just make sure you got your heater matrix and radio in (if its centre dash mounted) as your rear bulkhead panel will sit pretty dam close to it, the more clearance you got around inlet the better, more for insanity purposes actually.......

Now, need to try and source a rear engine mount for the engine, and the nuts for the passenger side mount! Kam, you got any lying around?

Nuts? I got nuts but none lying around unfortunately :P

How come your chasing a rear engine mount? I'm a bit con-foozed-dot-com over here??????

You use the cutsom rear mount and bracket that came with your allspeed frame, you can't use any donor engine mounts? You did get the the rear mount and bracket with the frame yeah?

Ahh, thats where you're going wrong - search for Volvo, might find it ;) If you dont have any luck, try here - http://www.machinery...C55B&catid=1033 ;)

Not going to have a heater matrix in the car - as it'll only be for summer use! If I have to use the car in the winter for some reason, I'll use a 12v heater! The radio will be mounted in a centre console - but my fibreglass dash and console have a 6" clearance from the dashboard, letalone the box - so I'm fine in that respect! :)

Any idea the best place to get some nuts, apart from in a snickers, or by joining the forces? :P But seriously - I cant find the ones for the mount anywhere!

I was being stupid - the rear mount on the subrame goes to the gearbox, right? Theres nothing atall on my engine that it could mount to? I think I just got a bit confused when I had the engine in without the box the other day, and saw the mount on the subframe sitting unused!

Bulkhead box nearly done, spent most of today fitness training, but spent an hour or so this evening. Reinforced the rear of the box with a length of angle, and started to form the smaller panel for the drivers side of the box - behind the servo - more room for wires, relays ect to sit! Awkward panel to form, but it'll look good when done, as it's a smooth, flowing shape, rather than a sharp box, awkward, but it'll be worth it :)

Yeah the rear mount obviously attaches to the subframe and the custom bracket attaches to the rear of the gearbox, all will make sense when you look at the back of the gearbox, you will need to shave a small lug on the back of the gearbox (if you have it) so you get a little bit more clearance for the steering rack, if your not sure I'll try and find some pictures of mine

How many nuts do you need? I think its two nuts and a bolt on mine (I'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere!)

Call Geoff Watson and see what he's got, he's helped me out with plenty of weird and awkward single parts that I couldn't find - Clicky

Ahh right - that makes sense now! Thanks very much! The lad I bought the engine from posted me a rear engine mount from an EK Civic anyway - FOC! He breaks civics for a living, so, if theres ever any parts you need - pm me, and i'll get in touch with him! I'll see when it comes if he's thrown nuts in, like I asked, but thanks for the heads up about Geoff - hadn't thought about him! Might need a few sensors, and bits and bobs in the next few weeks, so will keep a list!

Anyway, in other news - my welder packed in tonight, so I couldn't get the bulkhead box finished. Typical! Only got the top of it left to do anyway! Will get a wire feed motor ordered first thing tommorow, so might be here on saturday - but I've managed to borrow a mig from a friend for the weekend! Updates soon!

Well well well - it's been a long time TMF! Came on last night to give you all an update, but with forum problems - that wasn't possible. Big round of applause to the team for getting issues sorted so soon!

Bulkhead box is done!

Needs a coat of high build primer, then resprayed, as I'm not happy with the paint finish! Or I could just line it with sound deadening. Undecided as of yet, but I can get about test fitting the engine again now!

The keen eyed amongst you will notice the sloped bit on the drivers side of the box - this is to allow more room for either a cone filter, or a tidy lay out with cables/cooling and intake hose!

Sealed up the inside

Posted Image

That was all the grinding/welding/cutting I need to do on the inside of the car now - so I put the interior back together - lots of wiring to do on the dash, but it saves having bits and peices lying around the garage!

Drilled and posistioned a few switches on my dash!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Isolator held in place currently with two odd bolts I had in the garage. Got some nice red m5 bolts coming from probolt to take their place!

Posted Image

First toggle switch in place...

Posted Image

All three now! Need to be removed and the dash repainted, but that will be done once I'm happy with everything!

Posted Image

Tidy switchwork!

Posted Image

Carpet rough fitted - it needs a lot of cutting, as does my sound deadening - as the centre console is sitting up too high, making the dash sit above the top dash rail - easily fixed!

Decided to have a poke around the rear of the car, as I'd never touched it - didn't expect it to be too bad! Boy was I wrong!

Posted Image

Looks okay - so I did some prodding!

Bad move, How I never noticed this before is beyond me!

Boot floor and rear valance are past repair! Arches need some attention, but it seems to be mainly surface rust thankfully! Feared the worst though, so removed the fuel tank. Nothing, so I should get away with rebuilding the arch, replacing the valance and boot floor, and then a good coat of etch and zinc!

Posted Image

Decided, as I have some money at the moment, to go for a fuel cell, carbon fibre boot floor and carbon fibre rear valance. I've also reposistioned the battery to the inside of the car! Valance ect will be ordered tommorow (friday 20th)

As for getting the engine in - I ground down my steering rack a bit, and went to countersink the bolt - turns out i'd ordered the wrong size, so they should be here tommorow (friday) too!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Seems to be a strange size for a bolt - couldn't find anything that close to the reading I got - so ordered them in 5/16ths. Pretty sure they're right - if not, i'll just drill, helicoil, and fit a 1/4"

Going to seat the gearbox on the engine asap now, grind down the box to clear the rack, then go for another test fitment this weekend! Exciting stuff!

Thanks Kieran! I'd concentrated so much on the front, that I hadnt noticed the back! Well, I'd actually had a good prod around - but found nothing - the arches had hidden most of it! Good excuse for some carbon goodies though, so I'm not too fussed!

Thanks! Off out on the bike tommorow, so will be sunday evening!
