Done a little bit more today...

Removed the rear lights, rear bumper and the fuel tank.

I was really really surprised about how much fuel was in the tank! almost made me a bit upset...

Also, really pleased with the condition of the boot floor - it was covered in horrible messy bits of fabric from the boot liner, but after cleaning it out its in really good shape!

I'm starting to think that the mini didn't actually need a full strip down haha. Aw well, at least i will know it is sound.

Looks a very solid little base to me. Get the front shocks off and check under the mounts, they're prone to going. The front flitches might look fine from inside but you'll never truly know until you whack the wing's off...

Keep at it! seems you're doing a great job so far :-)

Great to see you still working away on this Marc. That boot floor looks great, it's a real nice surprise to uncover something that's not rusty!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I should be taking the engine out soon so let's see if I find any nasties in that area!

Done another hour on the mini tonight....

Got the bonnet, fresh air ducting and headlights out...

I think that i have found the rustiest part of the car so far. Literally fell to pieces in my hand!

Any clues on how to remove the indicators? It seems that they are hard wired into the loom? I cant see any way of removing them without cutting the wires?

The indicator wires go into the engine bay and theres 2 wires which unplug, them the wires pull through from behind the front panel.

Its sad but i am really jealous of just how rust free your car is, even the boot floor is spotless. Should be quite a straightforward rebuild. :)

It looks like it heads right back up to the bulk head? Can't see any connectors.

Might just have to chop them and put some of my own connectors in.

Jealousy is a bad thing! hahahah

Regained interest again!

I have far too many hobbies!

started sorting the drivers door out, tried my hand at panel beating.... i'm not too bad! building up the layers of filler and the jobs a good 'un.

Got a price for the welding now, so heres the plan.

Within next two months, remove engine.
two months time, get welding finished
after two months, all running gear out and refurbed then get it painted.
Then the fun bit starts... spending ££££'s on shiny bits!

Hi Guys,

There has been zero progress at all. All of my time has been taken up with other things and I've started saving up to move out. I'm afraid to say... Shes for sale :(

I really wish I had the time/ money/ knowledge/ skills to finish the project but to be honest, I'm lacking in all four!

If anyones interested, please check out the for sale section.

Thanks,

Marc.
