People that don't indicate annoy me.

i have no control over whether my indicators choose to work or not.

if people get right up my arse, i do one of two things depending on my mood.

1) i will boot it. my mini may not be built for top end speed, but relative to most cars its pulls off lovely (as most other minis do).
this is to show them im driving at the limit, because i want to, not because i cant go any faster.

2) as others have said, ill intentionally slow right down. i can also have my brake light on without actually slowing down if i press the pedal lightly enough, so i can technically accelerate whilst my brake lights are on.

ive embarassed many drivers since having my mini.

The tailgating/sitting on your rear bumper problem is very common now when driving Classic Mini's because many motorists just see them as an old car that is going to potentially hold them up no matter what the speed limit actually is. I get this happening all the time in my classic Mini but much less when driving my New MINI and hardly ever when driving our Mercedes C-Class family car despite driving them all in a similar way and at similar speeds.

Autocar magazine also confirmed this 'old' car effect happens with many modern car drivers recently, by driving an old Citroen Xantia at up to 80 mph (ie. at modern traffic speeds) up and down various UK motorways but without ever delibrately hogging the outside overtaking lane.........the Xantia driver was constantly harassed when overtaking by modern Range Rovers, BMWs, Mercs, Audis, VW, etc tailgating or flashing their lights to come by even in long lines of dense traffic. They then conducted the same experiment but with the driver now in a modern BMW 5-Series driving at the same speeds on the same route and the result was minimal levels of aggression from most other 'fast' lane drivers!

However, anyone who has driven on motorways and roads in Italy and to a lesser extent France will know that the UK tailgating problem is nothing in comparism........yet!!

Looks a really nice mini :) There is a local mini club in Derby. DCMOC.co.uk if you interested in coming down the A52. Have a look on our forum and don't be afraid to come to our meets!

See below :D

I've actually already signed up on the forums and would check there now and again for minis up for sale. I'd be interested in joining. It'd be great to take the mini somewhere where she can be fully appreciated ^_^

I ended up going back out, and drove up to Rufford Park, took some photos there, and then went down to Attenborough Nature Reserve again and took a few more photos down there. Felt alot better after going out for a drive and not having anyone tailgating me this time.

I get a lot of crap because of the L plates in my Tro. I make a huge deal out of it if anybody does give me crap though, I'm driving a Metro at the end of the day... that automatically reserves me the right to go as slow as i bloody want! ^_^

When i got my mini on the road last year i noticed that other car drivers tended to tailgate me much more than if i was driving my mitsubishi L200 pickup. So i wired up the original boot mounted reversing lamp to an independant switch and fitted a 100watt bulb and....... hey presto it might not be legal but hell do people drop of my tail quick especially at night!!

For some unknown reason all minis are seen as something that HAS to be overtaken. No matter if the other driver is 20 or 75, it just seems that all minis are seen as old slow rust buckets that are simply getting in the way of other traffic. I can no longer be bothered with these plonkers and simply get the hell out of the way, giving them a pleasant smile and a wave. they quite often looked shocked at what they are doing as they go past. Remember its not their fault! poor normal car drivers, I almost feel sorry for them...Numptys!

This is so true, the BMW 'type' of driver - shirt sleeves rolled up, one brown arm from leaning it out of window to show off Rolex watch - cant cope with being behind a classic car

I've had my Mini for a bit over a month now, and I have noticed people driving stupidly close to me and trying to overtake since I started driving it.
One event last week made me genuinely scared. I turned left at a roundabout and some guy in an old astra was following me ridiculously close, even though I was doing 30 in a 30.
I came to a zebra crossing and stopped to let some school kids cross. As soon as they got halfway, he started beeping his horn at me because I follow the rules of the road (mostly). There was a queue of traffic no more than 10 metres in front of me, so it's not like he could have got very far. Even so, he tried to overtake me, nearly hitting an oncoming car. Failing to get past me as I joined the traffic, he mounted the pavement to my left, nearly taking my car out in the process. He then jumps out of his battered up old astra and I quickly lock my doors, he starts swearing at me as he tries to open my door. With his hand still on the handle I just smiled and waved, then drove off. He did not look happy........

Anyway Claibo, I just want to say what a lovely looking Mini you have, I'm sure you'll have some better days driving it soon.
