they was already on the mini but they are standard fibreglass arches, the indents for the bumper have been filled thats all, as for fitting there is templates some where, so i would think they are quite easy.

they give nice wide rounded look, and look good with 13x7 wheels.
I might change them after the engine is done, ive seen 2 nice minis in the feb mini mag on pages 63/64 green clubby and black round nose, i might go for that look, last time i went to buy the kit, they stoped making it :nugget:

i have a bit of a newish question.....

on my mini i got std manifold and down pipe, play-mini carbon tech exhaust (going for weight saving) and getting a play mini link pipe and gonna have to make a sleve for the downpipe and link pipe to connect as play mini is marginally smaller.

i just wanted to know as i read above about how play mini back boxes are more show than performance....has anyone got any proof?

I wouldn't worry as long as it's at least 1 7/8" and "straight through" it'll be fine for a Turbo motor.

not exactly proof but most play mini boxes have large exit tail pipe this causes the gas flow to spread out and slow down

also some times the design is just C**p look at the cross section of my current playmini backbox how the hell they expect that to flow good?

If the playmini backbox is a twin exit design and indeed designed as you show above, then this will be poor for performance obviously. If it's a single outlet and "straight thru" and of a decent size it will be fine.

hi
at the moment i have a tuned 998 (non turbo) wit ha maniflow 1.75" stright through, single back box.
i think that sounds lovely and turns peoples heads etc, but its not realy loaud and allows me to go on most tracks hopfully (at donny i had no probs anyway which is 89 desibells).
when i get a 1293 turbo (maybe a morspeed challange) i will want a 2" maniflow stright through, but to keep the noise reasonable would i need to have a twin box or a single box? as i want it to sound nice but i think if its realy loud and stops me from going on trackdays and draws unwanted attention to me it will *yellow human water* me off!!!
im also going to have a s/c box which will make the car loud anyway!!
also just out of interest will a tuned up turbo mini with a 2" maniflow, would it pop and bang on the over run? (as i think that sounds well nice)

cheers
josh

turbos themselves tend to act as a silencer but i cannot comment on how noisey it will be as i dint have a turbo i should think it would be ok though...

I run a Maniflow twin box system on my car and it's certainly quiter than my friends Turbo who runs a similar single box system. He ran this same exhaust on a normally aspirated motor and it was louder though, as already said, the Turbo does act as a silencer to some degree.

o ok then
i thought that a big bore turbo would of been loud as my mates 1380 is F***ing loud!!
ill propoply get away with a 2" stright through single box then? i do like to hear the exahst but i just dont want to not be able to go on trackdays etc for noise!!

cheers
josh
