Just been out for a blast in the mini. Theres an awful Lot of knocing comming from the front of the car.
Now I know that my engine steadie bushes are Sh*g'd and so the Unnecessary engine movement is causing knocks. But I think my entire front end is ready for a rebuild anyway replacing bushes, bearings, Balljoints etc.

As for the driving, I just cant seem to get any power down, As soon as I get my foot down it spins up and drifts across to the right hand side of the road.

My Ride height is all out as I think my front Knucke Joints are worn un'evenly causing the car to sit on a slight angle to the right.

Now is anybody else having difficulty in keeping the front end gripping, Or is it just a combo of my suspension, Cr*p tyres and Knuckle Joints?

After some of the things you have said in the past, I put it down to the driver and his style of driving.

as you say yourself Cr*p tyres = no grip especially at this time of year when the roads are always a bit slick ..

sounds like driver opereration error in the fact that too much right foot is applied for grip of cheapo rubber tyres and kanckered suspention thats trying to transer power to the road. in otherwords, learn how to control the rightfoot for the grip of the car, its call driving son, no traction control or drivers aids

No, Im on a serious note on this one.

I only really did the "Stunty" stuff in my mini when it had the Leaky / oil burning 998 in there.

Its got a nice fresh 1275 MG metro in there now, Still a bit drippy on oil. But im getting a new clutch put in on tuesday.

My tyres are Falkens, PLEANTY of tread and decent tyre pressures (31psi all round)

Im getting ALOT of Bump steer too.
Its scary though!

Also getting alot of "Wheel spin" steer. When I change gear in the wet, if the front wheels Do spin, the car Shoots off to the right!

My tyres are Falkens

There you go then...

They are an ok tyre, but by no means the best, infact they are the next one up from Comac!

As for bump steer, get your suspension and steering etc sorted out.

I know how to f**k'n Drive!
I can pull away without spining at all (like tonight), But then I have Pedestrians Walking faster than I am pulling away!

I guess you would really have to drive it to understand.

I also know a mini has no driving aids, Ive had Four you know!
And my others drove perfectly well

I think you can't tell what the tyres are doing unless you have the suspension fixed. Dodgy joints and mounts will put the wheels at all sorts of inconsistent angles, and never really allow you to control the contact patch on the road to put those falkens to use.

Woah, A WHOLE 55bhp. w00t!

My Peugeot is 90bhp, Its alot bigger and heavier, its also FRENCH! and that takes corners WAY better than my mini. Which is a bit embarresing to be honnest!

So reading this from top to bottom you put a bigger engine in your car without sorting out the suspension at the same time knowing it to be 'knackered' ????

Ive got a set of replacement shocks and some hi-lows in my garage.
Im going to fit them tomorrow.

Now N dont have a compression tool. A mate of mine said you can still do the front shocks / dampers without this tool. Is there a nack to it?

Ive got Koni Shocks for the front and Spax for the rear.
Also got some Brand new Hi-lows. But ive only got a pair. So I can only do either the front OR the rear for now.

Thinking about just doing the front, Cutting the arches out more, and lowering it a tad.

I also need a new enigne steady. I cant use a Ultimate engine steady as the previous one ripped the mounting point out of the bulkhead!
