Just ignore them, that's what I do.

Plus it annoys them even more.

To be honest I can be a bit of a tailgater, but it depends who it is. If someone is driving in front of me, and I have to alter my speed and sit there behind them, I expect them to give me an opportunity to pass, so I can continue with my desired speed, regardless of what speed that may be, it is after all my choice/freedom as to how fast I want to drive. Saying that, I would never gate a Mini or any classic car owner - far too much respect for them :D . I think a lot of the time, I get held up by people, who just aren't aware that I'm there, old people beign a classic example, but some caravan owners are perhaps the most selfish/unaware drivers there are out there.

When I was young and my dad used to take us out for the weekend with the caravan in tow, he would always stop occasionally to let the traffic past. Bearing in mind this was driving through Wales and I realise that pulling over in more built up areas is not possible now, as you just wouldn't be able to re-join the road in some busy traffic areas! But I have been stuck behind old drivers/slow drivers/caravan owners for miles, with loads of lay-by's passing by without them even considering to pull in for a second to releive the traffic behind them. Surely that wouldnt be much hassle to them, as they dont seem to be in a massive rush anyway!

As a final point, I have had tailgaters behind me, and I treat them exactly how I would expect to be treated, I spot an opportunity to slow a little, and let them past, we get a lot of bikers up this way, and I am always slowing, and indicating, letting them past on the straights, so they can actually try to enjoy their day out on the fantastic welsh roads.

There's too little consideration and courtesy on the roads these days, and everyone thinks everyone else should drive just like they do

What gets me is when I am doing bang on the speed limit and some **** tries to overtake and then speeds off at like 90 mph and is probably going to be in a crash sooner or later. Coming back from Cheltenham along a road with several speed cameras at various points, I'm doing the speed limit and still people tailgate me and then have a good stare at Mini as they drive past.

Yep same here half the time, and I do be considerate when on dual carriage ways and move to inside lane but half the time most dont give me a chance and under take etc. I always whoop there assess on roundabouts and corners mind and on acceleration at times!
As OP said for me to it does take away the pleasure of driving it to work for me when most are in such a stupid impatient rush.
Surely it would take a lot longer to sort out an accident than it would to go steady and be a bit more cautious!

Why does this annoy you? if there going to crash so what there's nothing you can do about it and then there's one less ''****'' on the road then isn't there? And take the stare as a compliment theyre probably appreciating that someone isn't being a mindless zombie by running a more modern car on the road like.. ahem... me :D (honda civic - yawn)

Honestly if someone's up my arse, I find an opportunity to let em past, get's rid of the aggro, and I don't get annoyed about it. Unless they do something risky whilst going past - i.e I really can't stand undertaker's on the motorway's who undertake you when your'e sitting in a queue in the outside lane. Or if someone tries to overtake on a blind bend and beleive me some people do!! they are the real ****'s.

I had this when in my old 850 mini, guy was driving pretty slow, and when I overtook sped up but only when I was NEARLY past him, of course being an 850 I just.. barely.. got past before the corner at end of the straight, was a nightmare I was screaming at the guy.

its ridiculous! me and my dad were on the motorway in his car and some guy was holding us up, so we switched lanes and as my dad tried over taking him, he sped up and wouldn't let us pass! He has major road rage and he was effin and blinding at this other guy! its just so annoying!!!

I think people have an issue with being overtaken and get offended, like we're suggesting they have a small manhood or something!

I dunno, I don't like people sitting right behind me and then zooming off and then they could potentially crash into me at some point. I just think it's silly to be speeding. I guess I am still a bit peeved from my recent drive where that happened to me a lot and someone then undercut me on a roundabout.

Well it's different if they do anything dangerous, I agree with you if they undercut you on a roundabout. Speeding a little ove rthe limit to get past someone going slower than you is not so bad imo.

Oh I meant when they do like majorly over the speed limit ;D Especially on a bend or something like that when there is low visibility. Sorry, I probably sounded really fussy where I didn't explain what I meant. If people overtake me normally that's fine of course, it's when they sit right behind me and then overtake in a dangerous way I don't like!

Oh no absolutely I second that! those kind of drivers do exist sadly. And it's amazing that they seem to survive crashes and alsorts without barely a scratch, and they just keep on doing it. I know a few lads who I refuse to get in the car with, one has crashed numerous times, sometimes badly, still drives like a lunatic. When I say lunatic I mean I have been in the car with him (before I realised how bad he was), when he took a totally blind bend at 60+mph, however he was a corsa driver, which says it all really.
