Having a criminal record against them could really make their lives difficult.
The big qustion is whether you think you have enough evidence to get them charged. Sure, you'll have the evidence of damage to your car, but were there any witnesses or other evidence placing them at the scene?
The other issue you now have is that you've identified yourself to the parents, haven't you? This means that you could be up for personal targetting if they decide to get back at you for going to the cops in the first place. This places you in a tough situation I guess, and you'll have to make your own decisions about taking this forward.
I certainly would recommend not engaging in any physical violence against them, because you could end up charged by the police, especially as they are minors. You could then lose massively. (Look at what happended to that woman who fired a pellet gun into the road when threatened by hoods. Police charge, conviction and now no job).
Can one of our resident police TMF members perhaps comment on the best way to manage this?

happened in france few years ago... they thrown bricks on the highway from a bridge, not just bricks, the big concrete one, 1ft longI know of stories of people being killed by bricks coming through their windscreen.

no need to mention what happened to the driver, went in from the windscreen and out from the back window

You will also find 9 times out of 10 his so-called mates will do a runner, as they know what’s coming
Can’t really do this now as you have made your self known
when i was driving back from uni the other day a group of about 5 kids jumped out in front of me playing chicken, had to slam the brakes on, they did the same to the cars behind me! They were stood at a crossing then jumped right into the middle of the road!
I’ve had this when I used to pick my little sis up from school on my day off
Same group each week
and they wonder why kids are run over out side schools
The first few times I would slow down and stop but one week when the weren’t expecting it
I floored it soon saw them jump out the way
Strange thing is they never tried it again wonder why?

you should keep a golf club on the parcel shelf. it works wonders.
go to the police. you might as well give it a go. people like that that need to be taught a lesson. it might not be expensive but its infuriating. they should die.
some t**t kicked off one of my arches the other day. wish i had caught him!
anyways rant over

manslaughter
It's attempted murder, lots of people have been charged for dropping bricks onto roads from above now since those kids killed that truck driver who managed to keep his truck under control so he didn't hit anyone before he died (that was heroic).
Seriously, go to the Police. This is a VERY serious offence.
I don't know why people are surprised that disgusting chavvy loutish children have disgusting chavvy loutish parents.
Parents always say 'my little darling isn't a bad boy, it's the friends he hangs around with, he wouldn't do that, he's going through a phase, he'll grow out of it, he's got ADHD,' etc etc etc. All just excuses which mean 'my kids are horrendous evil little sociopathic morons'.
