West yorkshire police - biggest set of arrogant t-pots i have ever known.

Espically the morley police dept.

Glad the police near you actually do something about real crimes, instead of threatening to arrest me because i asked a question.

Thanks for the comments MattYoung69, and good feedback.

I'm not a lawyer or anything, but in the interests of raising awareness a bit, can I suggest that you want to think very carefully about getting physical with any of these louts (re the suggestions of golf clubs etc in the back of cars).

My understanding is that the courts tend to make a big distinction between causing injury to another person, and criminal damage to property (different if the act of causing damage risks human life etc re bricks through car windscreens).

It might make sense at the time to impose your own "justice", but YOU'RE then just as likely to end up charged by the police for assault or worse. You might then end up with a criminal record (+ fines and worse, jail), but which could also have serious implications for getting a job in future, loans, foreign visas, etc... (Comments anyone?)

Best thing I can think of is to have a camera equipped mobile phone or disposable camera in your car. I realise it's not easy, but presenting the cops with photo evidence makes for an easy prosecution case for them, I'm guessing, so justice can be done...

Unfortunatly a camera phone would only prove that the culprits were at the seen of the alleged crime and unless you are lucky enough to catch them in the act this evidence is in the most part dissmissable.

I find that most peoples views towards Police are not personal but are actually realted to the organisation and the laws that are set in place to protect the guilty and not the victims (that's the way it seems anyway!)

They'd probably just arrest you for using a phone while at the wheel

you'd be surprised if alot of police officers even had time to do that, all our time is spent dealing with things that really do not warrant any police action - i appreciate what you say although if the public in general actually knew anything about the job then you may in fact realise that it is the powers that be that dictate what we can do etc...

just for a taster in regards to paperwork -
1) probationers - on top of having to learn the law, powers, the job - the have to complete a pre-set list of tasks which is very time consuming and demanding, meaning alot of the time they have spare is taken up by this..
2) handcuffing - we are told to 'cuff everyone for health n safety which is fair enough, although, we then have a two sided a4 form regarding the use of force - justifying what we have done....
3) CS - dont even go there!!
4) a simple arrest - is nothing like the bill!!! we have to fill out a form before somone gets booked in with all the details on, they then get booked in where we have to again explain everything, take details, another form to go and be told what to do in regards to any investigation (applies for the most minor things) to have to spend hours taking statements, interviews, trying to convince CPS to agree charges to then charge to complete a court file....

a crappy shoplifter can take a day to deal with because of all the forms and procedure - if it was left to the officer it would be a straight in and done job.

personally speaking, we would rather be out and have time to deal with people using there phones than stuck in tripicating details on to every form for each person.

what question where you asking?

west yorkshire police - best detection rate for murder, violent crime and now spending money and time bringing cases from years ago against people through new technology...

more than most other force's are doing....

arrogance is a trait of a person, not an organisation.

run for parliament and you'll get alot of votes my friend!!

there is a very small team at each station, about 2-3 civvie staff, that will take some statements but only after charge and before court..by which time we have done 99% of all the work!!

the biggest burden on us is prisoners with self harm markers etc - they have to be watched at all times by an officer - imagine that, getting paid to sit wide awake and watch some scuffer sleeping....valuable use of police time? you decide!!

try south yorkshire, they pulled me over because i "looked young" i was driving home from college, and got pulled over because the guy thought i was too young to be driving, i had two male friends in the car with me, not meanin to be sexist, but how many girls are going to drive around before theyve passed their test, with two friends in the car, at a really busy time, in an old mini!

the guy also had the cheek to warn me that it took me too long to pull over, and could be seen as failure to pull over! i couldnt believe it, id tried to let him pass me, as i knew there was no reason for him to want to pull me over!

thats my rant about the police done, but i could go on for hours i really could, its nothing personal i just dont like them, as soon as i see any it makes me feel guilty, and im one of the most innocent people i know!

gotta be honest i have never had a problem with the police down here regarding driving. i was a little annoyed at their response when i reported a hit and run on my car the first time, then the second time they have been pretty helpful they have given me alot of advise to try and get cctv where i live, they are pretty sound here. for me anyways.

Police are alright round here, seem to be on the ball.

Tugged me on the first night out with my Mini!! Don't bother me really that they pulled me over it's the cheek they give you though, really gets my back up.

Anyway, I'm sure all Policemen aren't like that W*%^(r round my way.

I got work to do, so I'm gonna carry on

Ta ra!

Dude, If you think getting pulled by a Bobby is bad, try getting pulled by the same German cop 4 days in a row! (In the same BRITISH REGISTERED BRIGHT RED PORSCHE too!) Those guys have had a sense of humour bypass.....

But at least if you do have a REAL problem they'll turn up to your house rather than just sending you a form to fill in.

I personally don’t mined being pulled over and breath tested or because I look young (that would be nice now)
Because one day they might pull over the drunk or 15year old or the tw@t with out insurance who if not stopped would have hit me or my family!!!!!
