Car stood for 5 years,,, loosened all pistons and renewed a rear brake pipe. Topped up with brake fluid but none appearing after 50 pumps...

Anything obvious im missing?

My fluid after standing went to jelly thick and misty colour, disconnect pipes from the cylinders so you have an open end
and see if you can get fluid through, or it could be air locked first bleed front brake furthest away then closest then try the rear brake furthest away try a Gunson pressure bleeder worked on mine but you may need to help it by pumping the pedal

Never had to try it on any of my cars, but had several motorbikes that i had trouble with bleeding the calipers. Got round it by connecting a syringe full of brake fluid to the bleed nipple, injecting it back up to the master cylinder, usually got things flowing.

Mine is purple, but I have been told that's normal

You could try leaving the peddle partially pressed overnight! I've had that work with the brake leaver on motorbikes

Done that before also on some of my bikes, allows air bubbles to rise naturally back into master cylinder resevoir. Worth a try as long pipe runs allow ( nowhere for air locks to hide ) . Bike hoses a lot shorter though.

Seized up pressure limiting valve? Test at the valve outlet(s) if you have one.........

Following along Bmcecosse's comment, I suspect the brake valve on the rear subframe.

If you pump the brake pedal hard or fast it can shuttle the valve to a closed position which will prevent fluid from coming out. There are two methods I have seen work around this problem.
1) Disconnect the brake pipe just before the brake limiting valve and let the fluid pour out of there for a second or two, then reconnect it to the valve.
2) Open one of the rear bleed nipples with a brake bleeder hose attached (and in a catch jar) and go away for a while. Gravity can/will allow fluid to flow slowly through the system pushing air out ahead of the fluid.

not been stupid here am i? but dont they limit or disconnect the rear brakes on shorties???

im sure the ones ive seen and drove, had a limiter to the rear brakes, i think its to stop the car spinning when braking hard?

Investigate the system and see if its been messed with?

the above has twigged my memory i could not bleed the brakes and i rang M machine he told me to undo the pipes at the limiter on the bulkhead and pump the pedal until i got fluid then tighten and bleed the brakes
it was an airlock in the master cylinder

couple of drops showed over weekend...

What if I put some pressure in the master cylinder (heath robinson setup), with the pedal pressed half way down?
