and yes the 'bargain' KAD replica gear levers are a pain in the arse a mate brought one for his and the only way he got it to work was to use some part/s off the original lever although when trying the gearbox the other day i found it to be tight and unfriendly compared to the straight in race box type feel you would want such as the Ford Sportka's gearbox, it does seem one of them areas where you cant sensibly save money
anyway good luck finnishing it

Sorted the brakes at the weekend and found that the front calipers have about had it.
Changed the rear cylinders and the back part of the braking syatem in spot on.
Wanting to Upgrade to 4pot calipers with groved and vented discs.
Should i go with the metro calipers or try some of the ones that mini sport have to offer??
Either way 4pot is what i fancy
Cheers

The latest job done was the brakes.4Pot alloy calipers with braded brake hoses vented discs with grooves from mini sport. All of the brake lines have been run on the inside of the car just incase they ever became damaged for some reason on a track day etc. More a peace of mind thing really.
The plan at the moment is to get the beast finished and on the road then buy an mg metro turbo engine and mod that and once it is finished place it in and sell the slighty modded 998 engine whihc is in great working order;)
Next stage is to fit the dash and instrements. Sad to hear about the poor performace from Eddie Payne sounds very strange. Least i was luckey and kinda got my dash even though he promised me a mk2 dash. Will just have to do with the mk1 from what i have read.
more updates on the way...

The other pic is of the new quick shift. It isnt a genuine KAD but with some modification(sanding of the ball which sits in the joint) it works really well and i am more than happy with it.

The latest job is drilling the bonnet and attaching the bonnet pins so that the engine area is easy to get at:) There is a little wiring to be done and spedo cable to be hooked us as well as choke cable, heater cable and a few new bulbs are required for the instrements.
There is also a rev guage to be wired up too.I used cheq platye for the door cars and used the origional door cards as templates, then cut them out. I also decided to use cheq plate for the floor as well!
As the car is a track day vehicle i decided to put in a series of toggle switches replacing the origional numb switches. As well as the switches i managed to get some great lights to go with them with relevant logos on them informing you of what switch does what.
Alloy door set works well with the cheq plate and was a great e bay purchase!
