The show was recently at The Great Central Railway in my town filming the "car train" episode and i saw first hand how rubbish it all is.
I never thought i would say this but I genuinely prefer Fifth Gear, it is actually a car show where they give CONSUMER advice on cars people can afford not just supercars that about 2% of people can buy and realistically drive on UK roads.

I watch top gear because I think it's hilarious. I love the creations they come up with, and I don't care if it's all staged. They include all kinds of cars in the program, which i think is the most important thing, OK so most of us can't afford a lambo, or are going to roll over a reliant robin everytime a slight bend comes along... but it is educational AND fun!
I really enjoyed the christmas special, and I don't really care a mini got battered like that. A lot of you are saying it wasn't as good as usual, but I haven't laughed so hard in ages!

I was a massive fan of topgear about 2 years ago but there shows and challenges have just become more stupid and fake!

2%? i'd wager is less than 1% people can afford and drive in the UK. but meh i look at peoples cars on here and there is no way i could ever afford todo what some people have done or are doing but theres no harm in looking and enjoying. and thats what topgear about, its a laugh. its about the only half decent thing on the BBC these days apart from reruns of only fools and horses.

When 5th Gear started though no one watched that either. Remember when they used to be at Ace Cafe every week with Tim Lovejoy? It was dreadful. Only now when they've copied sections of TG has it become more popular.
Luckily now we have a humorous car based programme in TG and a interesting factual prog in 5G. Lets not bastardise either of them.

That said I've noticed that 5th Gear seem to have started to introduce a few Top Gear style challenges and amusing features of late, an attempt at capturing some of Top Gears audience and ratings perhaps?
