Hey guys, just a general question for you all. Whats the Mpg of your mini? I filled my 850 with a full tank the other day at £25.00 (brilliant right!) :) It lasted me roughly 120 miles... I would like to know how many gallons a mini tank can hold so I can work out the mpg...Im guessing I must get roughly 30/40mpg? :)

Late models were 34 litres (7.5 gallons), but I believe earlier models had smaller tanks (possibly 5 gallons?? )

It doesn't matter though because you don't need to use an entire tank to calculate mpg anyway, in fact that's a rather innacurate way of doing it unless you are going to drive until you run out of fuel. The simplest way is to "brim fill" the tank, then drive a set amount of miles (say 100 miles to make the maths easier), then brim fill the tank again taking note of how many litres of fuel it takes to brim fill the tank for the second time.

Then just do the calculation of number of miles travelled, divided by number of litres used, multiplied by 4.54 to give you your MPG .

I've got a stage one 1275 with a tired engine that's pushing 100k now. It mainly get used for local runs about town these days and mostly with the choke out too, so I struggle to get 30mpg! :(

I get about 60 miles per £10 from my carb 1275. It works out a bit over 35mpg.

Funny this thread is here, last night I made a spread sheet to work out the average mpg. A couple of months ago I started writing the current mileage on the receipt whenever I put petrol in, then it's just a case of putting it into excell and adding one or two formulas and it does all the hard work for you. I could upload a blank spreadsheet if anyone wants to have a go. I thought it would be better than the filling up twice method because that only gives you a value for that particular journey. This method won't be accurate though until you've been doing it for at least a couple of hundered miles.

Also I can check if the mpg has been slowly getting worse or not :whistling:

My sister has a 998, and she reckons she gets 140 miles to a full tank. her model is an 89... either they made the tanks bigger in the space of 10 years or she drives like a nun... or the 1L are better on fuel... probs a mixture of all of the above. haha, I'm quite happy with my fuel consumption.. especially hearing what everyone eles is averaging out as lol

Kenny used to get 46 mpg O_O

Standard 1275 late carb!

Honestly - Tested over many many tanks of fuel, using speedo & satnav & google mileage!

We put a stage 1 on and now things have gone to pot!

Reckon I get 40 max now, but he's only doing 12 miles a day now, instead of 40 - so don't think the short journeys are good for him.
