If anyone ever offers you a MK1 Cooper S shell and its original....you got the nearest bank and you get a mortagage because it would be the best investment. If you own one, hold on to it. Wait a couple of years cause they are going to be hitting values of a high end sports car....

Just like a packet of fags, in 10 years time you'll have to sell a kidney to buy one.

This Ex-Works Rally Mini bonnet from LBL606D went for about £1500+ on ebay in 2010.........
It had come from a chap who's dad in the 1960s and 70's worked for a scrap dealer in the Oxford area called Heborns, and they had the contract to dispose of scrap from Special Tuning.

was that at special tuning Abingdon (mg)

If so I was born at the Warren hospital , next door in 1966

and my Uncle used to own a scrap yard in Abingdon

The only problem with investing in a Mk 1 Cooper S is that you'd in 20 years time or whatever, you'd know that if you held on to it a few more years it would probably be worth even more, then even more after that...

There was a Mini being sold outside, with a reg plate being sold seperately for £1500. Reg was M1 NYG or something like that.

That rotting shed outside was worth nothing. I think he was trying to sell the doors and stuff separately wasn't he? I can't see anybody taking that thing on as a project, way too much work there, the vehicles documents is what the owner is trying to sell, not the vehicle.

Autojumble was rubbish today, I thought. Hardly anything interesting at all and silly prices for common parts. Mini spares didn't seem to have much there, too. On the other hand, I did manage to order some rear seat covers, so I can finally get rid of the horrible brown seats :D Now I need to go on mini spares website to order what I couldn't get at the show...
