And, of course, whilst your car will be going up in value, so long as you keep it fairly original, theirs will just depreciate until worthless.
But, why justify yourself? It's your choice what you own in life.

i get it quite a lot at work with a few customers but its just banter really. they say things like "someone has scrapped a mini in your car park" or "mr beans car is outside" or "theres an elastic band down the road, has your mini lost it by any chance" i know its envy really lol.
I don't know why but the elastic band one made me laugh, I'm sure it is envy

i had 2 kids in a silver lowerd corsa, fat bumpers, spoiler, cheery bomb exhaust, nos, sparco stickers and the like down the side. nice 5 spoke alloys lol revving and rocking at the lights shouting "oi grandad nice car," (its a 78 mini van, standard as they come, standard pea shooter exhaust, so it doesnt sound "fast")
i also had a washing machine and a micro wave in the back because im moving house
didnt stand a chance vrooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha yes!
Just times like it when I wish I had twin webbers and a 7 port head under the bonnet!

Tell them you are driving a 54 year old design which was voted the 'Car of the Century' and that it's a true classic in the real sense. It's a motoring icon which was produced in unchanged configuration for 41 years.
And, of course, whilst your car will be going up in value, so long as you keep it fairly original, theirs will just depreciate until worthless.
But, why justify yourself? It's your choice what you own in life.
Agree with you there mate, I'll just laugh as they're car degrades into nothingness, everyone knows what mini's are!

Everyone knows what corsa's, saxo's and fiesta's are because they have them god aweful sunstrips on them saying so. Just rise above it.

Yes, it will never go as well as a modern hatch-back, but then it's not supposed to. It goes like a car from it's own era. When the Mini was introduced it was compared to other current cars like the Anglia, not to a 1920 Bullnose Morris.
Presumably you would get the same reaction if you drove an MGB, a VW Beetle, or a Mk.1 Cortina GT.
All you need to say is "Oh, so you've no interest in classic cars then".
