I hate the certain people who have to hate on mini's for no particular reason... like corsa, clio, saxo drivers etc 'oh why don't you just get a modern car?' or am I the only one who gets this? >_<

i get it quite a lot at work with a few customers but its just banter really. they say things like "someone has scrapped a mini in your car park" or "mr beans car is outside" or "theres an elastic band down the road, has your mini lost it by any chance" i know its envy really lol.

Tell them you are driving a 54 year old design which was voted the 'Car of the Century' and that it's a true classic in the real sense. It's a motoring icon which was produced in unchanged configuration for 41 years.
And, of course, whilst your car will be going up in value, so long as you keep it fairly original, theirs will just depreciate until worthless.
But, why justify yourself? It's your choice what you own in life.

Just remember, you are driving a piece of motoring history and one of the truly iconic cars of all time. It's just as much a classic as a Jag E-Type or an old Rolls-Royce, maybe more so.
Yes, it will never go as well as a modern hatch-back, but then it's not supposed to. It goes like a car from it's own era. When the Mini was introduced it was compared to other current cars like the Anglia, not to a 1920 Bullnose Morris.
Presumably you would get the same reaction if you drove an MGB, a VW Beetle, or a Mk.1 Cortina GT.
All you need to say is "Oh, so you've no interest in classic cars then".

And it's because of the mini that they actually have their modern eurobox hatchbacks...
