LOL... I used to get much better quality abuse than any of that when I was in the old Skoda Rapid... An invitation to sit in the passenger seat for a quick blast up the snake pass made most people go very quiet though, (managed to make 2 of the ones who accepted throw up :D)

There can be few who are more dedicated Mini-enthusiasts than I am. However, to be honest, if you are comparing the Mini to modern cars for day-to-day driving including long journeys at high sustained speeds on motorways and main roads, carrying 4 people in comfort on a 300 mile journey, or simply taking the kids to the seaside for the weekend, then the Mini is 'crap'.
But, the same applies to most other classics and for all sorts of reasons.
If you had been young in the early 1960's and owned a Mini, what might you have said to someone who came along to work or college in a 1920 Morris - maybe called his car 'junk'. I'm sure I did just that, not recognising that he was driving a true Classic Car'.
The Mini is 'THE' iconic classic and we should all be proud to be driving a piece of motoring history, despite it having a lot of limitations compared to modern cars.
But remember, it is a piece of history, the design is now 54 years old.

Agree with you again really, but the mini is what you make it really, I always find going long distance in them a laugh, as long as it's only two people

I shall be using my 'S' as my daily driver for the rest of this week as my wife's car is in the bodyshop. Got to get my new ear plugs out - why, oh why did I fit those horrible straight-cut drop gears? Ah yes, with 115 bhp I need them, but what a horrible noise on normal road driving!

I hate the certain people who have to hate on mini's for no particular reason... like corsa, clio, saxo drivers etc 'oh why don't you just get a modern car?' or am I the only one who gets this? >_<

Sorry to say, but usually happen when your friends are of really low culture..

My mates call minis crap, not really said that in any context towards my own minis, but only said in a banter sort of way... considering the majority of my friends have owned minis too, i know they only say it as a joke

and to those who are so intent on mocking other peoples car, like their standard euro boxs saying their not fun, id ask you if you have driven said cars just as you should ask them if they have driven a mini when they mock them.
I know my 106 GTI's a fun car to drive, bumpy, noisy... the fact im looking to replace it for a more comfy car shows how it still has things in common with a mini kinda like a stop gap, breaking me into comfy car owner-ship,

all these folk who adimently say they will drive minis for life, id bet come years time you will own another car as a daily hack.
