I actually knocked two people out and that was the last time any random era spoke negatively about my car. Even had the staff in sainsburys watching the footage back all the time and barring the two guys from the shop.

Another responce to them, if they own modern FWD cars, which I reckon most will, just ask them what one of the first cars with a transverse engine and gearbox was, and how it has developed to nearly ever car on the modern market.

Ive had this from felow mini owners at shows in addition to "random people", taking the michael out of my spare wheel ( its attached to the rear back seat bulkhead as i have a fuel cell ),went something like " ha,ha look at that, its pathetic, what a joke" , and after a 14K rebuild and two magazine offers i was left like what the hell , openly mocking a car while the owner is stood next to it is never a good idea.

I dont see the problem with the spare wheel? I think it looks fine where it is? Some people are just arrogant :mmkay:

I used to get stick for owning a mini, atleast people look at our cars for good reason :D not looking down on what half of the youth do to there hatchbacks. Get many more people coming up to me talking about her than negative comments, even a 10 yr old came up to me asking :)

When I got my mini back, my boss had the cheek to tell me that her BMW mini was a 'proper' mini and mine was a bean can!

When I told her how much I got it for, £1600 (which is pretty good I think considering prices these days) she said 'How much!' and reckoned I got ripped off,

and informed me that I could have brought a 'nice little KA for that!'

I think what cars people choose to drive says a lot about them, and I’m more that happy with my mini!

I would rather crawl places then 'own a nice little ka' :shifty:

I wouldn't swap my mini for any other car!

Just Ignore them! I had my first show/shine event last weekend end at a Classic show, had loads of people making good remarks about the Min as I sat next to it.

Then two ignorant guys come up, start trying to dislodge my spotlights, then shouts 'all these cars have just had resprays, and look at the seam sealer, this cars been bodged, its rusting" as I was stood next to the car
>_<
Obviously they didn't realise that as an 18 year old, I surely couldn't be the owner and builder.

I wasnt having my car badmouthed, so gave them a right good talking too, saying that a tiny amount of seam sealer is perfectly acceptable, and that no, my paint is 2 years old, now "new"

They soon shut up, and quickly walked off when they realised that someone alot younger than them knew what was right.... :teehee:

Moral of the story, for every hater of your car, they'll be alot more who like it.
Dont worry about it, aslong as you like it, who cares what others think.

Can't say I've had anything like that, I have had my nephew say its old ant slow, till I took him for a drive, now he's obsessed lol. I've had a mate call it poofy because its white but he often admits he loves it. All other attention and comments is possative and it happens regular, petrol stations are the worst, last time there was 4 people crowded round for a look lol.

Can't say I've ever experienced this. People wonder why I don't want to use a modern car as a daily runner & have the mini for weekend fun, but I don't really understand why somebody wouldn't want to use the car they love everyday.

I take my red mini "Haggis" to the kirkhill gala day and classic car show every year...He never wins any prizes from the judges because hes not that sort of car..."more pace than face" as I like to say...But ALL the youngsters want to sit in him and blow the horn and push all the buttons. Which I have no problem with..He is with out doubt the most popular car of the day and is usually first on the list when the invites go out...I get people coming up to me in the local pub asking if they can bring there kids round for a "go in the Mini"..Im not one for showing off..but I just love the look on some of the "proper" clasic car owners faces when people walk straight past there car to look at my Mini..
