unless there you classic old mini owner that bought there car back in the 80s has kept it going and has no idea about the mini scene and wounders why people wave at them.

Admittedly these days there probably aren't that many people who own classic minis merely as a form of transport. But they are still quite popular with eccentric types who have no interest in classic cars, or the mini scene, but still want to drive something a little different. As above there are also a few middle aged/elderly mini owners left, who have owned their model since it was an everyday mainstream production car, and happen to still be driving it now.
If however you are an enthusiast who goes to mini shows and the like, then I have to say that not waving is just plain miserable!!

I have missed a few people as I was looking elsewhere, albeit briefly of course. By the time I see them they may not see my wave, if this does happen rest assured that I apologise as I continue on my journey.

I always wave but then again I wave at anybody driving a classic lol
I had a 'mutual stare at' with an owner of a classic beetle. As we passed we both looked at the cars and then gave a nod.
