Evening!
Got back from uni on Monday night and yesterday and today I made a start on getting my car ready for its MOT. Craig was at work unfortunately so I didn't have any helping hands!
Day 1: Got the engine back in, sorted out the driveshafts and stuff, fitted my new cat, fitted my new shocks that Craig got me for my birthday, picked up my wheels from being refurbed:
Fixed up this braided line for part of the brake pipe because I didn't like the look of the pipe as it originally was:
Day 2: Got the rest of the engine ancillaries in, fitted the exhaust, got it on its wheels and rolling.
Tomorrow's plan:
Get the brakes bled, sort out a few niggles, put the bonnet and front grille on and then at 2:30pm it's MOT time!
Then on Friday it's going to have the geometry setup, alignment done and ride height sorted.
Cheers for looking,
Simon.
EDIT: Apologies for weird set up of photos, photobucket is being a bint.

hi well impressed with the car. very nice.
but cant belive that you would support it on a trolley jack and a sissor jack then use a axle stand to support a caliper!
please please be more careful. wouldnt want to see you or mini damaged.

Love this I do worry a lot when I'm at work and Simon is on the car knowing he's probably using an axle stand/trolley jack to hold up his exhaust and a plastic bucket to stop the car falling on him whilst he works under it

So I haven't posted in a while..
In that time the car has finally passed its MOT and I've driven it a few journeys. I also got a new camera for my burfday and now I've set up a flickr account so all my photos are far better quality!
Shortly after it passed its MOT I noticed it was running far too hot and then worked out where the major oil leak was coming from.. my headgasket had gone:
So the head came off and I replaced the headgasket etc:
With that all done the engine finally runs NICELY! Still got an oil leak where the side cover was bodged on and stuff but I'll be leaving that till winter now since I can't be bothered with the engine out again now haha.
Here's my engine bay complete: (still not found a good product for making the rubber hoses stay deep black)
Next up was restoring my grille badge:
I've got loads of finishing touches to do now, the car isn't quite as I want it yet. Here's just some random pictures I took of the car as it stands today, after I did a few little things on it making it ready for Beaulieu this weekend
Unfortunately I've now run out of money since I need to be saving for my trip out to California for a month to work at a garage out there, so my interior has suffered!
Here's a picture of how it stands, completely untouched:
As I say there's loads more still to come really, when funds allow, but for now it's summer and I just want to enjoy it whilst the weather is good!
I'm not usually one for speeches and all that **** but this seems like the right time to thank a few people.. Firstly Craig of course, for putting up with helping me days on end to get it to where it is now, as well as the emotional support when I was ready to set fire to it, and for being by my side the whole way. Josh and Erik for all your help and generosity whenever I got stuck or had a problem, you've done me too many favours to count! And lastly everyone on here for looking and your kind words.
Right, I need a poo so I best go.
Thanks for looking as usual :)
Simon
