I'm glad someone else has the same thought process as me. When (if) i get the money together I'm going archless with my mpi. Minis look so much better without arches IMO

I think you should save some pennies and get one of these dashes.

http://www.woodandpi...dashboards/609/

With a magnolia center speedo in it it would be the finishing touch to this car! Looking good anyway looking forward to seeing it at some shows again. You two benders doing the retro rides gathering this year?

Cheers Jon, not too sure on that dash haha. I do like centre speedos but I think the current dash I have is one of the last few remaining things that shows that it's an MPi, and I quite like that. In the future though I might starting thinking about a centre speedo conversion but for now it's not high on the priority list.

ALSO, maybe, maybe not.. me and Faig haven't talked about that yet!

I love the original dash as Simon says its old and aged but it's the one part of the car that is, it's character and all that. Center binnicle isn't gonna be easy with an MPI too but I'm sure its possible.

I don't think we are gonna go to Retro Rides Jon, it was good when we went a couple of years ago but it's just a bit too 'scene' :P Get tired of chopped coils and badly rolled arches after a few minutes, not to say that there isn't some lovely cars there also though.

Today Craig was round so we decided to get on with getting the engine out.. Managed to get everything done ready for it to be hoisted out bar the pot joints and lower engine mounts in a few hours :proud:

Was lovely weather to.

Here's some pictures:

You can tell it was Craig taking the photos mostly from this next one :teehee:

And here's how we left it in the garage:

Tiny bit more work and it'll be ready to come out :xmas:

Cheers Jon.. to be honest looking at the work you're doing on yours on fb, I think yours is gonna turn out smarter than mine haha. I couldn't be bothered to paint most of the mechanical parts.

Looking at the pics my back starts to hurt from the position you're standing in while working on your engine.. Why not use a piece of mat or something on the floor so you can sit on your knees while working ?  Or.. am I just an old fart ? ;) (Don't answer that!)
