so i should ring up minilite directly yes but what do i ask for 'a deeper version of your 10x6??' and how much were they if you dont mind me asking??

Quite a few people have also asked me this question.

The deep dish Minilites are made by Minilite Wheels in the UK but made in small batches for the Japanese market, so when ordering them here you sometimes have to wait until they make some more for Japan. They don't seem to appear on their website.
I bought them direct from the manufacturers of genuine Minilites in the UK, but you have to mention you want the Minilite Mk 11 6x10 alloys with deeper dish ET-15 offset and specify what colour you want them, silver, gold, red, yellow, etc.
Most of the re-sellers like Minispares only sell the standard UK spec and don't stock the Japanese export type.

Correct me if Im wrong, but the mini was designed to have the 10 inch wheel so I think the car will always drive better, hold the road/handle better with 10s on everything was designed around it having that size.

I'd say yes and no- and it annoys me when people say straight up "thats the way Alec designed it so thats best" because this was all 60 years ago! We didn't even have computers then, I love period stuff but the fact is that times change and technology moves on. Any race car has non standard stuff fitted because it performs better than what is fitted at the factory due to limiting technology and cost factors, so to shun any movements in development etc is a bit bonkers. I believe all the mighty minis run 13" wheels too, and I know it is different in racing to comfortable road use, but they have to perform well and stop well- which is 80% of the point of choosing tyres etc.

So to all you haters- either stick with what you mean and use an 850cc on 10 x 3.5" wheels, moan when you cut out in the rain and what-have-you, or accept that 998, 1098 and 1275's are modifications over the years, wider and bigger wheels were brought in for a reason, and electronic ignition etc is something that makes life easier- although God knows what Alec would say!!!

p.s. I'm running 10" rims as I love them and want as much suspension as I can get :D

I like all 3 wheel sizes for the mini my mini has 12s on and im perfectly happy with them :)

They did but they were always 145 section which had les profile and ultimately less side wall deflection.

5.20 x 10 Crossplies are really the original 10' Mini tyre and on the prototypes they were even narrower.......

After discarding 8" wheels due to brakes size and briefly considering 11" rims, Issigonis and Dunlop focused on developing a suitable 10" wheel and tyre combination. A German Goggomobil bubble car was used as a guinea pig for intial testing purposes. As well as smaller wheel arches / more interior space, reduced unsprung weight and improved steering lock, Issigonis had calculated that wheel and tyre costs would be £11.13s.9d (£11.69) per car against £15.10s.5d (£15.52) for the set of 13" wheels and tyres used on the Austin A35 which the Mini was to replace. The Issigonis designed Morris Minor with 14" wheels were considered small wheels for the type of car in their day.
