thanks for the comment. I didn't notice when I bought the car. haha. one wheel is actually a minator or whatever they're called. I am thinking about getting some wolfrace wheels or maybe some slotmags to replace them with.. think that will be a long way off though.. lol.
cheers. joe

Hi all.
Not too much progress really. Been busy with other 'stuff'..
I've been having a look at sorting the boot area but I'm unsure which repair bits to buy. I was hoping someone could advise me on the best route to take. Like I have said before I am a bit of a novice.. :)
Posted Image
Posted Image
I think I can just put a patch in these holes but I didn't want to put some fresh metal in if there is a repair panel that covers them..
Posted Image

Anyway, I started to have a look at the doors. The bottoms of them are rotten. I have tried to patch them but have come to the decision that they need new door frame bottoms and re-skinning. Looked at the price of complete new doors on minispares.. :0 WOW!!! haha.. Lets forget that idea!

I have abandoned repairing them as I think they're too far gone and i'll end up making a mess. Re-skin is the way to go I think.

Anyway, thanks for looking.
Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the comments mate! I do love my little mini. I've only driven her three times and I'm itching to get her back on the road. I am really undecided on the colour. I WANT to keep her standard but I am just not a big fan of the color. I like it but I don't love it.. My original thought was to paint her black as she would still be a 30 but again, I am undecided.. Now I have thought about having her painted black with the Cherry Red Laquer painted over the top. I don't know how this would look or even if it would be possibe. She would be like a cross between the two variants.. I plan on keeping her pretty standard other than that though. Say for example I had her painted BRG I would still put the decals back on and keep the standard interior.
Cheers Joe.

cracking work here pal, keep it up and it won't be long until your back on the road...i know the feeling though, i am learning to drive now and i'm loving every moment of it :D but i can't wait to get cliff on the road, just need some insurance :xxx:

i was never overly keen on the red but i really wanted to keep it as original as possible but when i saw it for the first time after the respray, i was smitten

Posted Image

it looks even better with decals back on and the gold wheels are very complimentary to the red =]

now that is an awesome 30 O_O the arches are just right :proud: i'm thinking of lowering mine a bit at the back, the fronts sit so that i can only get one finger between the arch and wheel but the back needs tweaking :shifty: .

I love how it sits on the arches. I don't fancy is chances over speed bumps though! Haha. I think cars look better if they are the same level all round.
Thanks for the comments again mate.

Hi All.
Just a small update. Been tackling the boot floor today. Not much progress. Been a bit busy with other stuff.
Not sure if I'm happy with whats been done. Still needs welding underneath and probably going over again with the grinder.

Also got this. Kind of fitting at the moment.

I think it's cool anyway.

Tomorrow I am going to have a look at patching some more holes up in the floor.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Great work here, I have a mini 30 once owned by Jimmy Greeves!!
Doesn't have too much rust on it other than where a previous owner did a bad job of repairing the front wing
I'm thinking of adding a flip front to mine, along with some performance mods etc
I'm in the same boat though with the colour, not overly keen but don't want to change it as it is part of the characteristics of this car :S
I'd love to do a Complete strip and repair all the rusty parts (as I'm sure there will be more than the eye can see) but I lack tools and general know-how
Keep up the good work :)
Josh

hi Josh.
thanks for the comments. I do think the 30 is one of the best special editions. I love the seats. I think when I come to paint mine I think she will have to be a 'classic' mini colour like BRG or something. I still plan on putting the decals on afterwards. good luck with your mini. you'll have to start a thread on here! haha
take it steady. Joe.

i think a brg 30 would look really cool, especially with the decals as well :proud: the only issue i can see is that the decals have either a red or black backing, unless you can get some made up by a local graphics company with a green or clear background maybe ?

any way, looking good so far joe, keep it up mate :D

cheers rhys. I'm working on her now. haha. just having a bit of a break.. haha. currently welding the boot up. will update later if I get a chance. I'm back at work now :( haha.
I used to have a BRG Rover 25. (OK, stop laughing!) and I loved the colour. just the rest of the car I didn't like. haha. it had sort of gold flippy bits in the paint and looked really nice when polished. i also like,'rover Kensington brg' its sort of a pearl I think. only ever seen it on a Rover 400 before. my other idea is tihiti blue. I think that color is awesome! apparently the tihiti blue on a mini was different to the tihiti blue on the rest of the Rover range. not sure though. I think that might look better with the decals. may have to change the stripes though.. dunno.. lol. I'm a long way off that though! haha.
thanks for the comment matey.
love your new ram pipes you put on your thread. might have to get some! haha

Hi All.

Got a bit more of the boot floor done. Had a few distractions as the cat (yes I said cat) kept bringing me his ball for me to play with him.
Posted Image

Anyway, I got a few more of the holes welded up in the floor. I have not fully cleaned the welds up yet as I am going to eventually turn the car onto it's side so I will have better access. So it still looks a bit of a mess. haha. I have just ground them a bit and etch primed them to protect them.

The underside of the car is not as bad as it looks.. It is surprisingly solid although I still have allot of cleaning up to do. I think most of the rust is just surface rust

Anyway, thanks for looking.
Joe
