Yeah, that's dubbers for you haha! Many of them use air ride now though, and that's why.. I do like the look of a low beetle, but with mini's, for me, it's gotta handle nice as well as look nice.

I bought a Porsche 911 Carrera once from a guy in Germany. He had lowered it, don't know why as it was a road car, but when he was delivering it he broke the front spoiler coming off the boat at Dover. That cost him a few quid as we had to get an estimate for repair and deduct that from what I paid for the car. Then I put it to standard ride height for a Carrera and it was, quite simply, a superb car.
Why the perception of some that lower looks good and is 'stylish'. To most people it just looks odd and impractical.
Still, whatever floats your boat.
But this part of the Forum is ...Problems, Questions & Technical. It's where the engineering issues are discussed. Styling is another section. Ask a question in this area and you'll get a mainly technical answer, which might be what 'stylists' might not want to hear. The OP asked about lowering and got the right technical answer plus some technical advice.

i think you should look at the japspeed D1 cars they are setup in a similar way to cars on stance works and i can asure you there useable aftermarket parts are constantly developing not every one wants a rally car and this forum is not all about motorsport if some cars are not to your taste thats fine but theres no need to put a page of negative comments about it

To paraphrase Orwell, The Mini drivers looked from Stanceworks to Barryboys, and from Barryboys to Stanceworks, and from Stanceworks to Barryboys again, but already it was impossible to say which was which!

Well, I can see the point in raising the suspension for driving on bumpy roads or lowering it for racing/hillclimbing. I can see the point in setting the suspension to optimise road-holding and to improve handling. I can see the point in adding sound-proofing and a good sound system. I can see the point in improving the interior trim or the lights, or the paint scheme. I can see the point in altering the engine to improve performance or economy. I can understand why someone might want to change from winding windows to sliding ones or fit an early grille, or add spotlights. I can see why some would want to change to different wheels or alter the final drive ratio for better cruising or better acceleration. I can see why a change to a different engine could be attractive.
But that is all a part of improving a car to make it better for the specific part of driving it, and I stress driving it, which suits an individual.
But, to take a beautiful classic motor car and turn it into something less useable for its intended use, as with the strange 'stanceworks' stuff and nullify the 'fit, form & function' to which it was designed is something which I, as an engineer, just cannot comprehend.
Still, if that's what 'style' is about and you think it looks good, then good luck to you.
