err bloody amazing?! never EVER seen a 1968 UN-RESTORED shell this solid. there are some little holes in the inner sills, toe panel and under the lights at the rear. needs outer sills and hinge panels but thats it...

primed the interiour today. im covered in paint but gotta be quick to catch the rust, little bit already starting to set in... getting it to the workshop friday next week to blast it with paint and start the metalworks:D

It is the right hand tanks that are in excess of 300 pound.... No worry, this is a racing car, came equipped with a nice alloy tank, which I'm going to use! But I'm putting the filler necks in the body, just to prove its a real cooper S shell :D

thought that i should really learn how to weld.. for the last build ( clubman) my dad did all of the welding, and even though he was good i just cant bare to not know how to do something....

Posted Image getting there:)

and finally one for the clever ones..

A panel (outer), this one has been brazed on probably a repair.

but the other side looks like its formed in the actual a pillar!

i cannot see or feel a join. is this normal, i thought only the early shells had 1 single outer a panel?

Looks a great project. Have you checked/measured the shell to see if it's square?

With that rear end so light won't it be a little skiittsh on the back?

I'm going to be watching this! Looks a great project, with racing history :)

nope, and i dont think i need to, it was raced ( not hard) for a short period and want ever crashed heavily, and before that just a road car ( the car was racing before but was reshelled from a mk1 to this mk2 cooper S shell. mk1 was very rusty and i think he had a shunt)

i have seen lighter rear ends:P but im putting some brace bars in the rear so there is some strength to hold the subframe in, should add enough weight
