everything under the bonnet cost £21000 inc vat, i didnt skimp on anything as its a full blown racer.

but the head cost me £3500 as it was before the alloy ones were out. and the rad and intercooler were £1000 as they were made to fit the car.

and mines got a full race box and diff which are not cheap.

i was going to use 45s but sold them as you would struggle to get it right with a blower and an 8 port.
injection looks great and really is the way to go. so much more drivable and safer for the engine

just add up the bits

head £3500
rockers £250
short engine £3700 plus vat
box £2000
diff £600
cwp £450
supercharger £2000
fuel injection £2500
all the other bits
labour
vat
mapping
fuel tank

soon adds up

but if you want the best you pay for it

big A series power isnt cheap.

yes you could do it a lot cheaper for a rarely used road car.
no need for a 1380 on forced induction a 1275 would be fine.

true but my main goal is pretty sad.. i would love to get it featured in mini mag or mini world and the best way to get that is through doing a different engine that they can jizz over.

lol

as said earlier, it was before the alloy one came out as mine is the cast one.

it was machined from a bear casting by brian slark he did all the porting, valves, combustion chambers everything, his words were its the best seven port head he had ever seen.

the bear casting are not available to buy this is a one off seven port head.

Mine is one of the first iron 7 ports that minisport cast, the casting was 1000 quid, Stu at Vmax scart supplied the valves springs ect, put leaded seats in ported it did the chambers all for 300 quid,

I dont doubt that you have got a good end result, but the price just seems a bit steep to me.

I think you need to do a little more research rather than just assuming you can bolt bits together, for example you can't just bolt an Arden 8 port head to an eBay 1380 lump, the 8 port uses a cam with different lobe spacings, requires different (longer) push rods, and because of the cam youll need cooper s conrods as the big end is a different diameter, this way it'll clear the cam!

Thats just for starters! Also a problem, how're you going to get it all under the bonnet, won't be easy!

You need to take the advice inboard of people that have actually done it and not just ignore them because you want carbs and a supercharged!

Please also bare in mind what you are proposing is in fact a big money build in relation to your previous post. You not rich enough to build a kad 16v engine you say, but the reality is that an 8 port engine before the suppossed supercharging of it Will be a similar price.

I don't mean to come across wrong mate, just some food for thought.

Just for reference Specialist Components do a turn key 16V supercharged engine that comes out at £10k. Clicky

This is a system from a very good company that's had all the bugs worked out and is ready to go. You wont get the engine you want built for any less than this.

it sounds like you got a stage 1 head.
this head was as it came out of the casting. the ports and chambers had to be done. there is no way on this earth it can be done for £300. the valves alone cost £20 each as there full race valves, and there labour costs are £50/hr
its not a cheap road head this is the cream of the crop. one of the most competitive race engines in britain.

at the time when my engine was in build sc were not doing the supercharger kit.
and im pretty sure the £10000 is plus vat so £12000 and thats the basic engine not the full race, i think last time i spoke to them the full race engine was £15000 plus vat.

That is a lot of money. Mine cost less than a 1/3 of that.

Well youve got me thinking now....

it was definatly 300 quid, but maybe sourced the valves and stuff... we are talking about 5 years ago....

anyway, all race valves in mine, minispares one which are about a tenner each,

I still fail to see how yours could cost so much, When I got mine done Stuart said that it was cheaper to do than a 5 port head due to the inlets not needing anywhere near as much time to do as all he had to do was cut the valve seats to his usual 3 angle configuration and blend the throat in. the exhausts he ported to his normal fast road/race configuration,
