but again mine came as a bear casting, which are not available to buy, minispares say or did say to me that they cannot be bought like this. so imagine the work involved.
your one is probably this one
http://www.minisport..._HEDMS5030.html
a bear machined casting.
mine wasnt.
minispares full race version is £2200, these are done in bulk so its far cheaper to make 10 say than 1.
mine was originally designed for a full race n/a so big ports and flow was critical, but a change of plan ment it was blown. so in hiensight all the work wasnt really needed. as flow in blown engine isnt as critical.
thats why the price increased. the valves in mine are also more expensive. the springs were also the best money could buy. this was in 2006.
so yes you can get a cheaper 7 port.
but this was built for optimum performance. as was the whole engine. so it could withstand the abuse for a 20 minute race.
it sounds like yours has only had light port work. mine has hugh port, i wish i had some photos but im not pulling it apart for a photo.
if you want the best you have to pay for it.
and this is what i did.
again its not a road car or a 3 minute sprint and hillclimb engine its flat out for 20 minutes which takes so much more abuse.
im not wanting a debate on this.
£3500 is the cost of this head from slark engineering. in 2006.
yes they can be bought cheaper.

That is a lot of money. Mine cost less than a 1/3 of that.

I will not be doing the conversion myself. so anything that is needed im sure i will be told and asked for more of my hard earned cash.
I'm just getting an idea as to it being possible and no one has actually said its impossible yet. in fact you've all just said its hard to do which means i want to do it even more.
As far as the Kad engine being to expensive. i did not say that. i said i cant afford to keep buying a race engine because i hear the life span is very short.

As for the tyres, they are an old Michelin S210 slick that I hand cut a tread in, so no, not a road tyre.

You are quite right, my engine is not really built to last a 20 minute race. But actually, I see no reason why it wouldn't, although maybe not at the boost levels I run. But reduce the boost to something sensible and no problems.

i agree with you. you seem to be very knowledgeable on the engine side, and it really was not a dig at you. id say you would have to change the gearing though as it would be reving its t ts off down the straights.
ive watched your vids on here at harewood. i was there that day delivering tyres to bmtr but didnt see your minis there or would have stayed.
how come you have cut the tyres surly a full slick would give more grip...
what size are they????????

We are currently planning entering the 2CV/Mini 24hour race in a few years, trying to get some cash together. Obviously not in the hillclimber!!! But other than that not really. The freedom of engineering and definitive things to beat (i.e. hill records) is what appeals to me about hillclimbng.

We now use a 20" diameter slick, these just squeeze on the rears with no mods, but you wouldn't get anything any bigger on.

this wasnt the reason why i change to fuel injection. i wanted a car which was drivable throughout the rev range and that would start easy. this is hampered by webbers.
dont think the big valves will be a major issue.
mbe made my plenum chamber on my engine.

i ll check for the weber code. what throttle and ecu do you use?
i ll send you an email if its not a big trouble i liked to see some pictures of your engine.
