Talk about demoralising, that's £1200 he's just had outta be for problem £300 work! I'll get this chap to come and take a look for me, see what he has to say, and if he agrees with what I'm thinking the mini will get moved! There and then! Just can't believe it's come down to this, I've thrashed the overtime for that money, just to throw it away, looks like I'm gonna have to do it all over again !!!!!!

Legalised theft. As said, small claims court is really your only option. Once you get him into court, he'll have to start paying out, even if that results in debt collectors. ******* him, he deserves to loose his possessions.

Get your mini back ....and as much as you can fit in it, carry, in the spare car, on a roof rack!

Only other advice I can offer which I am sure has been said already...

Once you have the mini back,if you're not confident enough about completing any work yourself,research other mini specialists,visit them and see their working conditions and quality of their work,at least you will be reassured.

If a workshop looks a dump,walk away.

I visited a so called mini specialists a while back and watched how they worked,opened my eyes to not trust them to even jack a mini up!! Jacked a mini up by the gearbox!!! Not for me....

Can honestly say I like to act dumb about cars,however I am certainly not..have not worked in the motor industry for years now but I still have the core skills that I used to pass my qualifications.

Thanks guys, it will either be John speed raceway or someone else ill be getting to do the work now! I can't imagine James will willingly refund the money if the car gets removed so small claims may have to be an option. Maybe James has actually started doing the work, but it's taken that long to even get started the trust has gone now! He's left me with limited options on where to go forward on this. It would take a hell of a lot of work and effort on his part for me not to move my car. It really seems when messaging him he really has no understanding of where I'm coming from

The link also contains the personal address of James, so you could issue a court summons direct as they are not a ltd business, so the debt belongs to James.

Oh don't worry I will be, although I have heard of this guy, they've been established for over 30 years, he's never short of work! Had many a car in the mini mags! But I will be looking into it before hand, once bitten twice ill kick ur head in lol certainly won't be as trusting now.
