As a finishing touch I've gone for contrasting black and white gaffa tape to hold my rear arches on
Pah!! Gaffa tape is like soooo last season!!....... Cable tie stitching is a much more "rat" way to hold stuff on these days....
Never actually seen it done on a mini though.....

I have to agree with you on the used look, i found my MK3 rally prepared mini in a chaps garage. It had not moved for 19 years, i have owned it for 2 years and have not washed it since i bought it. It has got chips and dings all over but i want it as it probably would have looked like when it was being rallied.I'm an old 'rallyist' as top gear would say so i've always loved the 'used' look, but this rat thing leaves me a bit cold....its an age thing i'm sure !

I have had a look at it and i can,t take anything from it, the rat look is preferable to something that looks like Herman Munsters forehead.

whether you like the rat look or not, it's different and that is what the mini scene is crying out for, we should be embracing these idea's, the mini scene should be evolving, moving with times, not dismiss it, look at it to see if you can take something from it
Cable tie's awesome!

I my opinion there is a difference between unrestored cars and rat look cars.
Rats are made to look that way with no paint panels or matt black panels stickers roof racks and old crap attached.
Here is a picture of my original un restored 61 Van
