Alan Clarke from Chesterfield, was instructed by the DVLA to remove the plate 'BO11 LUX' from his Range Rover last year, just six weeks after he had bought it for £399...... Tis a shame, now that's a plate!!!

Yeah that is a quality plate (similar to the Max and Paddy motorhome plate). they can refund and remove new style plates but they have an amnesty on plates pre 2001 as they've been out for so long already.

A chap who lived near me and who was a well-known truck racing driver had a Merc with the plate PEN15.

I'm thinking of getting an offensive/amusing plate lol P155 FUN is quite cheap but then i'd need gold trim and arches lol

although if i'm honest FA57 LOV is probably more appropriate lol

D5 GRX used to be on a Ford Transit.

I saw F7 ORX on an early 1990's Porsche 911 recently, I wonder if the owner is a Mini fan?

Private plates are alright I suppose. When I bought my car it had a plate on suited for the model of my car. I left it on for a while then put it on retention for a month or so then sold it

that's cool, how do you find out when the reg was exactly issued?

an friend bought the mini from sheffield about 18 years ago for £50 as a project asked me to look round it cause it 's a mk3 shell checked the log book and noticed the reg date was my birthday so talked him into selling it to me
was just pure luck

Not really a personal plate though is it? personal plates are supposed to be personal so people know its you/your business/etc. to me that is just another number plate and i would imagine 99% of people would also think it was a standard plate apart from the odd hardened mini nut. personal plates are supposed to be personal to the owner or car ie ***RED on a mini flame red, M4YFR on a mayfair etc
