I have got T5GRX on my van.. Again hope I don't need to explain it lol

I'm trying to find D5GRX to put on my mini but its impossible to track a reg down..

I don't get it ?

GRX 5D, GRX 55D and GRX555D came 3rd 2nd and 1st in the 1966 monte carlo rally but were all disqualified.

Not really a personal plate though is it? personal plates are supposed to be personal so people know its you/your business/etc. to me that is just another number plate and i would imagine 99% of people would also think it was a standard plate apart from the odd hardened mini nut. personal plates are supposed to be personal to the owner or car ie ***RED on a mini flame red, M4YFR on a mayfair etc

Have you not read the thread? There's a fair few people with plates similar to the works reg numbers.

The whole point of personalised plates is that you can do what you want, I don't mind if other people don't get my plate

an friend bought the mini from sheffield about 18 years ago for £50 as a project asked me to look round it cause it 's a mk3 shell checked the log book and noticed the reg date was my birthday so talked him into selling it to me
was just pure luck :D

That makes it even better then

would love to get a MK1 shell but
A) cant afford one
B) the shell is part of it's history now

Don't get me wrong, its personal preference and they do suit cars when you know what they're about and if you think its great then balls to everyone else but for me a personal plate (when your spending large sums on them) should stand out/enhance the car or be personal to the driver like a name or as said earlier the day issued was the day you were born etc. If you have to explain it then kind of defeats the object of it. Thats only my opinion though and i think FA57 LOVE or AS51 FUN would be brilliant on a car lol.

although having said that if you don't know the driver's name and its not imediatly clear like BOB or something i suppose it just as bad.

Its all vanity at the end of the day, one form or another but what isn't vain about owning a mini. you wash it and wax it, put a loud exhaust on etc so you can drive it slowly with the windows down in the summer, shades on, low burble from the exhaust hoping everyone will see you and be envious. were all guilty and unashamed.

I do draw the line at folk driving convertables with the roof down in the winter

Ye I suppose if I had spent a lot on a plate I'd want people to know but mines only £200 which is as cheap as they come.

I like the funny ones if I had a big expensive collection of cars I'd probably have stupid plates on all of them

I'm the opposite, they are the sort of private ones that I think are alright. I still wouldn't have one though, hence selling mine

to be honest If i had the money burning a hole in my pocket (and there weren't more mini's i could buy) i'd have a really funny/stupid plate just because its funny and attracts attention to the car but as it stands i'm too lazy to mess about with the paperwork and everytime i get some spare cash it spend it on shiney things or upgrades rather than a plate. 200 is very cheap though i'd buy one if it was that cheap and had relevance to the car or me

DVLA call them personalised registration plates. cherished plates is a site/company name. T5 on a T5 van is understandable but i wouldn't say GRX is the second most famous mini. i think if you did a pole to ask people most would say EJB, italian job mini's, Mr Beans mini etc etc.

Can't believe you are arguing over a plate!

You've insulted my plate because its not to your taste! I don't think that's fair..

I havnt used this forum for a while because there seems to be a lot of people who have just bought a mini and think they know everything.. Not suggesting that's you but you're coming across in a bad way..

Please tell me this place hasn't become full of people who like to pick fault with anything that is said that they don't agree with...

It hasn't become full of people like that, it has always been like that. Too many armchair experts, naysayers and doom mongers but that sadly is the nature of forums and the social meedya.

Seriously? insulting your plate? lol you need to get out more. If everyone had the same opinion/point of view there wouldn't be a forum.

I'm not arguing with you, infact i agreed that T5 suited a T5 van, i even said 'each to their own'. just because i disagreed with you about it being one of the most famous mini's doesn't mean were picking on your plate/you/your opinion etc
why come on an open internet forum if you don't like what other people's opinions are.

Jezz's chill out fella. its only a 524mm x 112mm piece of plastic. what does it matter what anyone else thinks if you like it.

You're not wrong funny how people will say things to people they wouldn't say to their face on a forum lol
