I am no welding god!
I feel that people should see this so that you do it better yourself.
if you spend 250 quid on a welder why dont you spend say 50 quid more and learn how to use it, it could save yours and others lives.

this is the old panel its only welded to the inner sill at the bottom.

inside its not welded at all! there are no plug welds. this panel joins the load bay to the floor so the forces of the rear suspension will pass through this panel.

This is the sill area door hinge panel, its only tacted on and the sill has been welded on the edge and not spot welded this will not hold anything.

Cracked door frame? No problem, throw some bird crap at it!

Posted Image

Although the welding's not too bad, I don't think much of the panel alignment!

tomgale's bolted floor panel made me laugh. The subframe mount would be really funny if it wasn't so kinda crucial to the safety and running of the car!

I don't think it was ever on the road with the bolted on floorpan, but i suspect the subframe mount may have been, I think there was another plate seam sealer-d on top of it too. moral of the story, if you buy unfinished projects, check their work! still, its all solid now.

edit: also, that floorpan was still in good nick, once it had been unbolted I reused it (properly)
