I was able to pull panels out with a hammer and screwdriver...
It now looks like this, though I am not done with the car even remotely :)

I agree completely people seem to forget that it's dangerous! Even on this forum and many others I see project threads with people willing to show of there grapes and hammerite
Ok I'm not perfect but fiberglass, seam sealer and red oxide is often misused and as for filler to hide stuff omg its to make panels straight , but I've stripped cars with inches thick of the stuff no lie
And now that on pre 60 cars with mot exception there going to be some death traps
Not much can be done about it really but hey there's always expanding foam
grapes and hammerite
I laughed so much I was crying!
I think I might get some stickers made up! Excellent!

It utterly disgusts me. There are obviously complete idiots about who don't care at all about the safety of themselves and others.
Edit: the word redacted by the porn filter was s-l-a-g

I suspect that some of the very bad welds in the pictures were done with an arc welder, in very short bursts, without chipping off the ******* in between. You can just about do tolerably satisfactory welds that way, if you are very quick to avoid burn-through, and thoroughly clean up the ******* between welding. Others look like gassless to me, with typical ******* inclusions which that process generates. All done on dirty, rusty metal of course, where any welding process would fail.

I don't think the forum likes the word s lag!

Yeah.. I know. The scary thing is I think the Previous Owner had actually expected to use it like that, the inside was completely filled with fiber filled bondo.. Itchy stuff!

I wonder if programs like classic car rescue - Bernie Fineman and Mario Pacione
will make things worse ?
complete restoration in 2 weeks anyone ?
But they did it! They wouldn't lie would they? Just don't forget to leave a rusty engine right behind your freshly painted E type and you will be a pro like Bernie.
