He should have all his tools taken away and his hands tied behind his back , at least that way, he won't be able to inflict any more sub standard work on a vehicle again.

It depends on the point you are at in the life of the car. For a long while minis were £100 cars, when they got to the MOT man with a hole it was a case of either put a quick patch on or scrap the car. So in a way plates and oversills have saved many minis from the scrapyard in the sky. Now its different as they are worth more, so it comes down to inexperience, incompetence or scumbag dodgy dealing to cover the problem up. Often all three may be involved!I can't understand why you would want to weld a plate over the rust? If its rotten cut it out! Im not going to comment just yet on the welding as I haven't fired up my welder in a while! But I hope mine looks a little better than that, Blimey!!

He made a Renault 4 chaise longue. The welds were not pretty but it held together when he sat on so maybe they were stronger than they looked.
To me the Renault did not look that bad I would have restored it.

Yup, I've fitted loads of oversills, plated stuff up all the bad things!!
It was all you ever did, not worth doing any more as the cars were worthless.

Same here. We also did not have the internet so if you could not get a panel off the shelf at the local panel shop then you had to fashion something yourself. The internet makes thing a lot easier.

I remember scrapping a Mini just because it had a couple of holes in the sills make me feel a bit sick now.
