Hello everyone!
My name is Javier and i have an Austin Mini 1000 from 1980. Right now i have an oil leak in the clutch oil seal… I bought the seal from minispares and i want to replace it without removing the engine. Does anybody have a guide (with pics, if it´s possible) to change the clutch oil seal? Is that a tricky job?
Regards!!
Javier

Before you start do you have a puller for the flywheel? has to come off which your most likely aware of?
have you a copy of a Haynes manual for reference.
The clutch cover is a bit tricky to release the engine mounting bolts from the subframe due the clearance problems, its a bit tight down there on space.
They have a video on youtube for the verto type clutch which you may find useful,
And they show the seal being taken out here with the special tool
It can be removed carefully with a oil seal pick or using small screw drivers
There is a special tool to go over the splines on the primary gear to replace the new seal without damaging the seals lip, but it can be done by wrapping tape over the splines of the primary gear and applying lubrication and sliding it in and then carefully inserting the seal and carefully tapping the seal in with a drift until seated correctly around its circumference.

Get a couple of seals if your not using the tool over the splines, just incase!
