Can any tell me how big a job is it to charge the synchro between first and second gear in a 1987 mg metro gearbox ?
Also where can I buy such a synchro ?
And finally is the mg one different than any 1275 a+ gearbox?
Thanks in advance for anyone's input

if it is because of a crunching gear then you will probably be able to cure this by replacing the baulk rings rather than the entire synchro, these are not particularly expensive but a set of bearings would also be wise as it will involve stripping the gearbox so may aswell replace these while your at it, rebuilding a gearbox is fairly involved but is easier than you would expect and can be done even by a fairly inexperienced DIY mechanic aslong as you take your time and follow a guide. This is a good guide by the gearbox guru Guess-works. http://www.theminifo...earbox-rebuild/ Also guess-works sells reconditioned gearboxes on his website if you do not want to try this yourself

I think John also still does his refurb, which differs in that he checks and changes the bits that are worn instead of all the "soft" parts it can be a big cost saving.
