Basically I've rebuilt parts of my auto gearbox & fitted all the correct gaskets & what not
& painted it B L green.

& Basically when I removed the engine. I removed it whilst the subframe was still on the car rather than how I did previously.
The engine mount under the torque converter seemed extremely hard to get to the bolts. I ended up cutting them as I had new bolts & mounts coming from M-S

Should I remove the subframe to refit the engine then refit the lot onto the car as one.
Or is there any way of squeezing a spanner on that mount nut with the subframe already on the car?

Seems drastic to me to to have to remove the subby

Absolutely not, there is no need unless you have the hands of a ... very large person !

you can get the front bolt from slightly below the convertor cover centre and from the front, with a long 1/2" straight (ish) ring spanner, a combination spanner will often do it.

The rear is a little harder to do and requires that you fit your hands down the rear side of the convertor cover with a short ring spanner.

It isn't easy but perseverence will see you through, and possibly cutting up a couple of combination spanners ;-)

Cheers Martin. Yeah it was that rear bolt that was a pain for me

I never have any issues with that one..... I just wait till the kids get home form school ;-)

I have also wrapped wire around the shank very close to the head of the bolt and fed it in that way.

I use the green garden wire as it does ok, I have had the same roll for a few years now, just wrap a few strands together.
