1986 Mini City E, 998cc

I cannot engage any forward or reverse gears. I have adjusted the throw-out stop and the return stop per Haynes. I have even tried the trick of winding out the return stop further. I then can get forward gears but not reverse.

Suggestions?

Have you driven the car? Has it sat in storage? does the engine load up if you try and push it in gear with the clutch down. The clutch may have stuck.?

The clutch was stuck but I unstuck it, i have driven it but had to adjust the return stop, out, so I could put it into the forwards gears. I had to turn the engine off to get it into reverse.

Are the clutch hydraulics ok? full throw on the clutch arm? and slack inside on the pedal when pressed which would indicate air in the system.

Yeah I bled the Clutch Hydraulics and no air was in the system. And the clutch arm has got full throw.

Then its internal and something causing clutch drag, you may end up taking the cover off for a strip/investigate

If either of you guys that replied are interested, the pre-owner had a verto clutch plate from, i believe, a metro in a pre-verto housing & set up.

Cheers for the help.
