Well the A3 was a bit better than I was expecting. I used to wonder why people would spend 20plus K on a 2.0TDi BMW/Audi/Merc, just for the brand name when they could get a better spec car if they went for a less premium model. I had the 1.6 TDi today, and actually I can see why it is such a popular engine. The pick up was good and it cruised nicely. It felt solidly put together and was actually quite nice to drive, although I did have a bit of a backache when I got out.

Still, I wouldn't spend 20odd k on one, even if I had the money.

Really? I found the A3 seats to be quite comfy; I guess it was only a short test drive. The volvo c30 felt a little bit better.

Yeah they were comfortable enough, and it was only near the end that I felt it. It may have the angles weren't perfect for me or something.

I wouldn't change the seats in my old banger for the world. It's like sitting in a big ol comfy armchair

My daily driver Morris Minor has decided it no longer needs its rear spring hanger mountings and left one on the drive! So Bini for me until the weldathon can begin.

The value you get with BMW's and Merc's a few years old is fantastic.

My 2007 BMW 730D SE would have cost £62000 when new, but I bought it almost 2 years ago for £8000 with 90k miles on. It is still superb to drive, very quick, cruises at 86 mph at 2000 rpm in 6th. It can be driven all day and the seats are never uncomfortable.

The same applies to the Merc 'S-Class.

Just bought a Fiat Panda 100HP.

It reminded me of the mini so much that it's encouraged me to get back in the garage and get the mini running for what's left of summer.

It will be hard to choose which is my "fun" weekend car!

My wifes Ibiza has the 1.6 tdi engine and it's rubbish. It's rubbish on fuel, you've got to drive it like it's stolen. Still, it wasn't anywhere near 20k

I'd assume thats the same engine thats in my Bluemotion golf? Quite happy with it in that, maybe the fact its bluemotion makes it different? Sups fuel, have done nearly 700 miles with one tank before with it on Eco mode, was chuffed. In Sport mode its also quite nice.

What bhp version is it though? I've got a Caddy with the 102 bhp but they do a 75 bhp version of the same engine which might be in the Ibiza, it must suck in a fully laden Caddy!

It's either 105 or 115bhp.
