Only just seen this thread. And now i'm wound up beyond belief. This just illustrates the kind of :D who own Bini's.

No way would i wave at one and if the driver of one ever had the audacity to wave at me i'd provide them with a well known hand gesture.

I've posted a reply in a similar thread over at 'finity just the other day, and now I find I have to post a reply to another elitist, arrogant numb-nuts. I tell you what, if you decided to give ME a "well known hand gesture" I would be inclined to return it, in another well known gesture known as "kick yer teeth in" ! ^_^

I was going to stop there as i just end up getting really wound up, but this is anotherr good example of the kind of morons who own Bini's:

I REALLY wish you had stopped there, as I too am getting really wound up! The problem is not because they drive a Bini, it's that your mother works with a couple of idiots who just happen to have a bini as a car, owning the car does NOT turn you into a "moron", you need to be that way allready. Sorry to shatter your perception of reality (slim as it may be).

It's people like you and comments like that, that are the main cause of people damaging Binis at Mini shows. It's also the cause of MANY people including myself, becoming ever more dissilusioned with the whole mini scene. It's also the reason I will not be attending the Mini event taking place up here soon, I don't want to find my car has been vandalised by some muppet like you. I work HARD for my money, I don't have a lot of it to spare and I don't want to have to pay to fix damage done to my car JUST because it's a Bini.

It's a CAR, it exists, get over it!

Ok then, I OWN A BMW MINI COOPER ! I also own a Rover Mini Cooper, SO does that make me another one of the "morrons" who own Bini's and never owned a real mini? I've had my 91 Cooper since Feb 1995, I even passed my test in it, but now it's getting a much needed re-build as the original shell consisted of mostly Ferrous (III) Oxide, otherwise known as RUST. I needed another car to use in the meantime, I chose the BMW Cooper as it was the best to drive and most fun out of the limited choice that £10.5K can get. AND I can still get my money back if I sell as the Bini's are holding their value, not something commonly said about the original mini.....

I'll tell you what, if you give me the money for a TVR (a nice BRITISH car..........Owned by Russians) then I will quite happily get rid of the Bini........any takers? Hmmm, didn't think so.

There seems to be a number of arrogant people on the forum, I hope I'm wrong and it IS just posturing and not the true state of the Mini scene. You all need to grow up, it's just a car.

In answer to the original question, NO, I don't wave at Bini drivers, wether Im in my Mini or the Bini. It's a Mini thing.

To Me, Binis are a fashion statement

Thank you...the problem is, is that most Bini owners do buy it because it's fashionable

Now I will flash/wave/toot me hooter back to other Bini's if they wave to me because that shows that they respect the classic, that's fair. It also means they probably own (or want to own) a classic at home.

Basically, I'm not a fan of the new design (just not my cup o'tea), but I'll wave if they do. Reason being is that if I wave to them, they could be one of these 'latest fashion' types and not enthusiats so therefore will just be ignorant.

Respect shown to Bini owners who respect the classic.

OK, that's 'my two cents' as the yanks say.

***waits for Gary (mini-gti) to say sommat about me***

WOW, I never knew people could get so wound up that they are not driving a Mini!

The way I see it, is the Classic Mini has its charicaters, that most other car owners don't have... reaspect to each other!

I can't help but find myself smiling whena Mini goes past me, and flashes or waves... I mean, how many fiesta drivers do you find doing to another fiesta?

Its a trait that has become a "perk" of Mini driving. Personally, no i don't ecnolodge the BMW Mini, but I take it is a "big up" as they are flahing me because I own a Mini.

I can't see how people can get soooooooo wound up the fact on what a drivers flashes his lights at!

The end of the day, the Bini is just another car....
But remember, the Magics in Mini!

I don't care if they flash me or not, but I don't flash back.

i dont wave or flash binis unless they do to me but if they do flash it doesnt bother me just means that they respect the classic versions as well as the bini versions! i dont see there is a problem flashing or waving at binis or binis flashing or waving me!

Silicon Skum: Sorry to have ruffled your feathers old chap but i was merely putting accross my opinion, this is an open forum i think you'll find and i am not on my own in the opinions that i hold. I mean where would we be wiothout freedom of speech?!?!

To respond to your points:

"and now I find I have to post a reply to another elitist, arrogant numb-nuts" - I can't imagine anyone who owns a REAL mini would consider themselves an elitist arrogant numb-nuts and i certainly don't. What's more you would be the first person on this thread to post a DIRECT insult on another forum member, bad for old boy!

"I would be inclined to return it, in another well known gesture known as "kick yer teeth in" !" - :D lmao to see you try, nuff said!!

"It's people like you and comments like that, that are the main cause of people damaging Binis at Mini shows." - This i take exception to. You may not be able to distiguish between expressing a closely held viewpoint on an open forum and committing a criminal act but i certainly can. I would never dream of damaging someone elses pride and joy, be it a BINI or not.

"It's also the reason I will not be attending the Mini event taking place up here soon, I don't want to find my car has been vandalised by some muppet like you." - That your put off that easily says something about your character and sas for the latter part of this quote, see comment above.

"Ok then, I OWN A BMW MINI COOPER ! I also own a Rover Mini Cooper, SO does that make me another one of the "morrons" who own Bini's and never owned a real mini?" - I clearly distinguished between people who've owned REAL Minis and those who never have.

"I needed another car to use in the meantime, I chose the BMW Cooper as it was the best to drive and most fun out of the limited choice that £10.5K can get" - £10,500 could buy at least 50 roadworthy and reliable cars to use in the interim period that your own REAL Mini is in the garage, just check the autotrader dear boy! Some of these may also conform to your, i am sure, high standards of driveablility and fuin factor.

"AND I can still get my money back if I sell as the Bini's are holding their value, not something commonly said about the original mini....." - Don't think this is strictly true. And i all fairness it's not a level playing field; the REAL Mini is a 47 yr old design and doing pretty well for itself. Not sure the same would be said of the Bini when it reaches that grand old age!

"There seems to be a number of arrogant people on the forum, I hope I'm wrong and it IS just posturing and not the true state of the Mini scene. You all need to grow up, it's just a car." - I could have been wrong in my previous comments, seems you are not just insulting me personally......

"In answer to the original question, NO, I don't wave at Bini drivers, wether Im in my Mini or the Bini. It's a Mini thing." - Let me get this right, you don't wave to other REAL Mini drivers whilst in you Bini? Fair one, you know what the resonse would be. But not waving to other drivers of Bini's whilst tootling along in yours?? What does this say about your own views of Bini drivers??!! ^_^ Discuss.

Lastly, for some people, of which i am one, the BINI is not just another car and it, as well as it's German owners, has had significant knock on effects for my family.

So please forgive me for expressing my own strongly held and passionate views on the subject, which unlike yourself did not stray into personal slants and abuse.

I only wave at them if they wave at the Vernster, but it's still sweet if someone takes the time to be friendly. I don't like binis themselves because in my eyes they're nowt like minis should be, but I'm stuck in my old mini ways. I've nothing against the drivers- as long as they indicate :D

Do any of you people vandalise BINIs at shows?

Any of you people get abusive to BINI owners at shows?

If you lot fail to answer (at least some of you) I'll presume the answer to both the above is yes but you're too cowardly to own up!

Oh, to the ranting sheepo - test drove a BINI the other and the guy who drove it over to me from B'ham had been at Longbridge for 30 years - lost his job in the collapse. He wasn't keen on John Towers but then I guess for you people he's British so what he did was okay. Those b*st*rd Germans though have gone and invested millions and created thousands of jobs in Oxford and at their other British factories - ourtrageous that. There's a word, xenophobia, that could and should be used to describe many posters here because that's what this is about, mentions of 'zeig-heil' being and example of the stock in trade of such garbage - the root of such attitudes being ignorance and insecurity plain and simple.

Roga, I assume you've been posting this provocative garbage to the Minifinity thread aswell? To accuse people here of vandalism is completely out of order. I see no mention of vandalism (with the exception of the original poster getting hot under the collar at the one particular gentleman). I see no "Zeig Heils" or other such terms, I see a guy who is rightly :D at his old man losing his job. Whether that is your experience or not is not an excuse for accusations of xenophobia and ignorance.

Jammy, I think its time to lock this down. personal attacks or not, this is getting stupid. (yet another Bini thread bites the dust)
