3. i dont like the ally handles (opinion i know)

4. had spots but they have been removed :( anyone got some spots ;)

It just checks that you have brake fluid in the reservoir.

LOL yes if it illuminates then you are good.

The correct spot lights are the same as the RSP which are expensive when they come up.

Wing mirror = it looks in really good condition so the chances are the door skin has been replaced. The Magnum skins I bought have the rivnuts in them to attach the wing mirrors but the supplier did ask me if I want them with or without. I am guessing whoever did yours send "without".

i also made the assumption that the door had been re skinned.

so does that mean the checkmate would have come with spots originally??

and cheers Chris :D it was so much fun to able to get out and drive the mini again... its been a few years.

£170 fully comp insurance too... must be getting old!!  :ohno:

 NO!

This comes up so often I cannot believe there are still people who give the wrong answer when it gets asked.

It's a brake fluid warning lamp, the same as in any other car.  Don't think of it as a switch.  If it lights up by itself at any time, check your brake fluid.  Pressing the switch tests the bulb only, the same way the handbrake warning does in other cars.  Of course this does mean that if it lights up when you press the switch it should be all good as said above, but there is more to it that needs to be stated.  Oh and you should also check to see if the cap on the fluid reservoir is working now and then, under the rubber cover on it there should be a plunger.  Push the plunger right in, or lift off the fluid cap and let it drain, and the light should show too.

No, the Checkmate didn't come with spots and I don't remember them being an option on mine.  Although they may have been since the Cooper pack was an option.  I don't imagine there are any particular spots which are the 'right' ones for it.

There may never have been a passenger side wing mirror...certainly the original Racing and Flame models only came with one as standard, and it may be that the 2nd edition Racing/Flame/Checkmate models had only one too.

I think the passenger mirror was standard by the time the second release came out. Alloys were standard on the second set so I can't imagine the mirror was optional. I'll see if I still have a brochure.

Interesting pic in the brochure. No spots and no passenger side wing mirror. Every day is a school day.

Gents i cannot thank you enough!! that is fantastic. i love learning new facts about the mini and i will try to take her back to original (maybe a slightly more fruitful exhaust) but she is fairly standard.

first thing is the grill and the door handles/furnishings

The RSP Cooper was made in 1990 in the same colours as the Checkmate, Racing Green and Flame Red. Many say the RSP was based on these models (including the wheels) with the Mini 30th interior and a MG Metro engine. If you are looking to add 'period correct' spot lights then have a look at:
