Hi guys, just a quick one; have a hif 44 carb on a 1300 metro engine, the cone filter on there at the moment is a bog standard one but will changing it to a pipercross (http://www.minisport...o_PCFC1504.html) make any noticeable difference (sound wise) or do you reckon all air filters are the same? Read on a blog some where it creates some serious noise but I beg to differ, cheers for your help.

The foam ones are supposed to be a bit quieter than the K&N type. My experience is that your Mini just does a good impression of a vacuum cleaner, until you get the throttle open.

Thats a bit subjective as it depends on what they rate as 'serious noise'

ie i have twin SUs with ram pipes on the rally car and thats serious induction noise..

i have one of those pipercross cones in the bini and its not that noisy, just a bit 'beefier' at full throttle but you wont notice it at cruising.

I have a K&N Cone on my HIF44 and that really grows away under anything above 1/2 throttle.
