I expect having the beam in it instead of a full subframe probably saved the shell from a lot of damage.

additionally, its a good job it wasnt a proper "tricket" car as paul may not have just walked away with a sore back, the wedling on those original cars was shocking, it might have disintegrated lol!

From what everyone saw at our end it looked like you slammed your brakes on - this wasnt the case as no brake lights showed so must have been some sort of lock up, either wheels or something we couldnt quite see.

Did you miss a gear just off the line? we all looked over to watch as we heard a bit of a warble and stutter just before the locking up and sliding out happened. Very strange, it looked like you were on the way to a great run!

Maybe someone was doing a video, keep an eye on youtube aswell

Main thing is you're OK, metal can be replaced

I'm glad that Paul is OK, and I'm sure his car will come back lighter and stronger, on the Trickett shells those that were gas welded properly were very strong, not that there are many out there to look at now :-p

glad you are ok mate. i saw this happen, i was gobsmacked as it was a very lucky escape for both of you. it was the first run we saw when we arrived. all i saw was you tearing down ahead of the other mini and all of a sudden yours span out across to the other lane and into the wall. wasnt it around 10.30?

I can only echo what everyone else said on that it's good you're okay. Take it easy with your back!

Time for a new project thread!

Beautiful car
Saw some of your runs before this happened I think

My mate was videoing it...I wasn't with him at the time but I'll get it off him and see if it helps you find out what happened

Gutted for you..

i have seen inside 2 of them and the welding was truly shocking, imagine the first day you got a welder, it was that bad!

im not the only person to have said this either, plenty of other have said the same too.

anyway, this is off subject really.

Looked like he got 2nd gear instead of 4th, which locked the front up, sending him into a spin, then hitting the barrier on the other side, back on.
