This is my 1996 Rover Mini. I'm 17 and have just passed my test. I'm with MyPolicy who are ran through Aviva, and offer insurance to young drivers only. My Mini is a group 5, and I expected to pay well over £2500, even if I was lucky. I see Compare The Market and MyPolicy came up, quoting just over £1700 with only £200 excess, which is bloody cheap compared! Really would recommend them.

Just insured my 79 through compare the market with go girl for 1101. non of the admaril group would touch it due to its age as I did try both single and multicar quotes with them as I have a vw golf insured with diamond. with yours being a 78 you'll be in the same boat. 80s onwards minis are much cheaper to insure even though they are all the exact same cars and specs! I'm 19 and driving for two years but no no claims due to only being named driver. Wheels, exhaust and driving lights declared

My 96 1.3 SPi is costing me just shy of £2000 to insure for a boatyard mechanic at 17, best idvice is just to shop around on comparison sites and then start ringing the cheapest quote websites

I'm soon to be buying my mini, and compare the market seems to be the best bet, however I'm pricing up and then seeing which is the cheapest insurance before I even buy the car.

Insured my MPI at 21 for £650 fully comp. Now gone with Admiral and they've always been good, actually stay the cheapest at the end of the year when I go to compare quotes. Just taken out a multicar policy where they let me mirror my ncb on the 2nd car too.

Turning 25 is also awesome... 3.5 litre V6 for £500 a year. Just keep driving like a prick limited to early mornings on empty roads and it'll soon come down.

dont tell them you a mechanic it puts you insurance up and say you have no alarms immobiliser trackers as that puts it up sound stupid I know but it dose
my insurance was 742 removed alarm tracker and immobiliser and took it out off garage and it went down to 452
I spend hours playing with car insurance and I can not for the life of me work out y haveing security on it make it go up
