I've just passed my test so have been looking for some quotes, I had a quote of £1600 for a '96 nissan micra (+buying it) with dad as a named driver. I then had £1200 for the Ritz with dad on it, and with mum and dad on it it is just under £900 :gimme: with the stage one kit declared. Thats via compare the market with admiral and I also get a free meerkat!

your not the only one in the same boat

when I was 18 my quote  was 1000 with elephant  and now im 19 my quote is 600 and a few pence with go girl and that's declaring all mods but my clubman is just under 700 with all mods as the lady said on the phone ''its a older car sir  ''

but it goes down on how long you have had your licence for but your still a major risk as you a new driver which is abit stupid

hope you find a insurer

or you could change your name to a girl as there a lower risk somehow and add loads of other named driver with load of no claims

just shows the variety of bargains and rip offs on quotes especially mine they charging me more for the brace bars than the engine which is daft but atleast you have some mods as well for your price

I Got the insurance today, but said it was going to cost £1400 as a form needs to be filled out for it being a classic. The form cost £10 to do, but doing it not only brings the insurance down to £900 but also has a agreed valuation as you need to send in pictures, if I didn't get an agreed valuation the mini would be only worth £200 :mmkay:.

So check what value your mini is to them and see if you can get an agreed valueation on it.

Next year with my 89 city with a modified engine and exhaust my insurance drops to £850, that's as long as I don't crash this year!

What the chances off crashing the day before your policy starts again but even so im sure you insurance will still go down if you had a crash as the experience counts more
Than anything
