Good job, it always amazes me how much carbon builds up in an a series engine, I have took other cars apart and nothing compares to the a series for it, I took a k series apart and it was really clean, must be to do with the combustion chamber shape or su carb.

 

 

yea always get quite a bit of carbon build up in an a series, this engine has done nearly 85000 miles, but good job it was not running to rich

everything nearly got the engine running but did not last long till the bypass cheap crappy hose started to leak, and found a pin hole in it

 

Those 'easy fit' bypass hoses are a waste of time and money, I've always used a section of half inch heater hose instead and never had any problems.

Picture in Post 6 shows the gasket gone between the firings rings so would have been off soon

hi really so it would of gone soon, how do you know from the picture that the firing rings have gone ?

yea never using one again, got a piece of silicone hose spare from the hose kit i brought from my 1275 mini, so gonna use that :)

thats weird that i took that picture, i only took it to show the top of the piston and bore did not see the gasket gone between cylinder, good job i had to do the head, if i left it long would it of just blown between the cylinders ?
