The Asian market are big buyers for classic minis!!!!! Especially the Chinese
Best get ready for a long drive but seriously, as said above 4k is a lot of cash unless its really something special. If it is that good then rebuilding the original engine may be the way to go to keep originality. I can't help but wonder how its been maintained when something like this has happened. To get that sort of money you would be looking at a low mileage full service history car.

Tools £100-£200, Haynes manual £5, engine £100-£200, tea and biscuits £50 (you can never have too many biscuits when working on minis), still comes to less than £500. I bet there are people close to you who would help out. Its nots as hard a job as you think.
