Blimey! It would have to be a near mint low miles 25 for £4k, mine cost just under £2k a year ago completely original on 30k miles needing some paintwork but no rust at all

Living in central London, minis are slightly more due to location plus the fact there are not that many original minis around within the vicinity and thirdly taking into account the mini25 was a special addition!

Best get ready for a long drive
but seriously, as said above 4k is a lot of cash unless its really something special. If it is that good then rebuilding the original engine may be the way to go to keep originality. I can't help but wonder how its been maintained when something like this has happened. To get that sort of money you would be looking at a low mileage full service history car.

The engine was in very good shape! I was driving without any oil for 6months! And I'm kicking myself for being so reckless!!!!

Tools £100-£200, Haynes manual £5, engine £100-£200, tea and biscuits £50 (you can never have too many biscuits when working on minis), still comes to less than £500. I bet there are people close to you who would help out. Its nots as hard a job as you think.
